View Full Version : the 815 survivors are the island (or jacob)'s constants
duckab234 01-22-2009, 04:25 AM the island is unstuck in time and needs the remaining 815 survivors to return to fix it. discuss...
that includes the oceanic 6 and walt... maybe even desmond or lapidus. that is why they have to return to the island, so that it can get unstuck in time.
i thought i started this thread already but maybe my internet went down right before it could send... i'm thinking the O6 and Walt and maybe Desmond and Lapidus are the Island's missing constants, and need to be on the island to make get it "stuck" in time again.
enigma420 01-22-2009, 04:46 AM I know I'm not time traveling, but after reading this, I have a headache and my nose is bleeding.
woland 01-22-2009, 04:50 AM The island is Billy Pilgrim.
Labbies4Vincent 01-22-2009, 02:54 PM I thought of this theory as well. Think of Hurley's comment while they were playing risk, "Australia is the key to the whole game" (or something like that). All of the Oceanic 815 either interacted pre-flight, in the airport, or on the plane prior to crashing. Accord, they are each other's constants. They met in Australia, and it is the "key." Additionally, they interacted via other people (Cassidy, Christian, Mr. Paik, Mr. Widmore, Locke's work at the box company that Hurley owned, etc.). These connections/inter-connections might work as the constant as well. I haven't totally developed this whole theory yet, but it seems to fit.
JaneBug 01-22-2009, 03:00 PM What occured to me was, did anyone notice that Candle ended with the description of the power source being so great if wrongly tapped, " God help us all" the same words used at the end of The Lie by Mrs Hawkins..if Ben couldn't get the 06 together in 70 hrs. It made me think that the ones who need to return had to be constants or the power source may bleed, just like the nose bleeds, and eventually erupt like a volcano and destroy the planet. I also say ones, 06's and i don't know who else qualifies.
Son of Candle 01-22-2009, 05:39 PM That's what I was thinking. So- Charlotte's dead?

maybe not.. maybe she has to find a constant? her birth parents perhaps?

Why would the island need a constant? This theory keeps getting circulated and it makes no sense. Are we really worried that the island is going to get a nosebleed and go psycho?
The Oceanic 6 need to go back to the island because in the future they are responsible for something very important. I don't mean that in generic sense. If they are responsible for an important event that does in fact happen in the future, then the MUST be on the island to make it happen. If something prevents a critical event from taking place (intentionally or not), we will see a course correction happen to make things work out correctly. That's the underlying law of the show's universe.
The bottom line here is that someone has probably been trying to mess with the time stream. The O6 are responsible for something really significant. Someone from the future is trying to keep that from happening, by changing things in the past. This has caused all kinds of weird events that we are witnessing in the present, as things are always being brought back into line as the universe 'course corrects.'

the island skipping in time like faradays record player analogy is pretty psycho...i think the nosebleed is like radsinsky on the boat...her mind may be lost in time...

Great Chrome Weasel....Yes indeed and well put. i concur. I also wonder how will the universe correct Hurley outta the L.A. jail.In the future the '06 WILL do something amazing.....they will literally save the world's only chance to become a UTOPIA!
duckab234 01-22-2009, 09:03 PM the island needs a constant because it's unstuck in time now. obviously a chunk of land can't get a nose bleed, but it still needs saving as Richard reminded Locke. yes the Oceanic 6 are responsible for something important: being where they're supposed to be (the island) so that it will unstick itself in time. oh and Walt needs to go back too.

Pink Human 01-22-2009, 10:39 PM Perhaps only the Island's constant is Aaron since he was born on the Island. Aaron cannot return by himself, and he may be needed to do something connected to the Island that requires the rest of the surviving 815-ers who have not died (since the Island won't let you die until you have done what it needs you to do).
And just an idea: The Island's version of a nosebleed could be electromagnetic chaos, and losing Its mind could be rupture in the whole time-space fabric that our nice little snow globe (Earth) is in within our larger universe.
adam620 01-22-2009, 11:51 PM Further on that thought...trying to prevent them returning, i.e., forcing a blood test on Kate and Aaron in order to get Aaron away from her and keep him from returning to the island...
Pelegrin_1 01-23-2009, 07:11 PM Don't know about the 815 survivors (or all those who ended up there, dead or alive) exactly being the Islands' Constant, but I do believe that the Islands and the Others (including people like Ms Hawking, etc, do need all those 815 people on the Islands in order to continue to exist. The only question mark is Walt? Okay, he has powers that scare the Others, but nevertheless, why wouldn't he be needed there just as much as all the other survivors? Yet they allowed him to leave, almost "sent" him away.
Exodus666 01-23-2009, 07:41 PM I agree with Chrome weasel.
In the future the people on the Island will do something significant in the past,
but they need to ALL be there or it never happened.
With the missing 6 the loop cannot correct itself,
that would basically mean the M'Kraan crystal rupturing and ending our entire universe.

I like the theory and I think posted something like that in another thread earlier tonight.
