What's with the fire arrows? Why not just send smokey after the losties?

Has it ever been made implicit that the "hostiles" could control Smokey?

We don't know who was responsible for the flaming arrows yet... who's to say it's a group that even knows of smokey.

They may of been at a time before they learned how to control/harness it.

Smokey was in the preview at the end of last night's episode.

Thanks, Irishogre. Since I don't watch previews and hate to be spoiled, your comment was exactly what I wanted to see.

Don't remember if it was this episode or not, but at first when the plane was making it's crash landing into the island over Locke's head, the smoke coming out of the engine made me think it was smokey just flying around uninhibited.

Almost like he had jumped back in time to a time when smokey was just sowing his wild oats and enjoying his life in paradise, flying around and chasing boars. Ahhh, to be young smokey again...

Relax. Anything that airs on broadcast TV is not a spoiler. What do you do when a commercial for Lost comes on, cover your eyes? I guess you don't watch the flash-forwards either.

And before you go firing off a post, please know that my tongue is planted firmly in my cheek. Sorry if I gave anything away.

Technically the content of previews is supposed to go in spoiler tags on this forum, as far as I know.

Haha! Nice one!! That made me laugh out loud.

Aye, indeed they are.

I am a pretty active reader over on the theories board. One thread got a little wacky after the previews started coming out. It seemed every other post quoted the last one, and every one of them were in spoiler tags. Since I refuse to open spoiler tagged content, I had to stop reading it because it was getting so crazy and I was completely unable to follow it.

So no, I don't cover my eyes or refuse to watch flash forwards. But I do skip the previews for next week's episodes religiously (even though my wife is just the opposite - I pause the DVR to leave the room then she watches them). Some of us like to go into each episode without being forewarned about anything.

I noticed that there was white smoke behind Hurley's car after Ana Lucia disapeared. THe car was not old, so it should not have been exhaust.

This would be me as well. I never used to mind previews, but over the last few years (for all shows) they have had the tendency to go a bit too far and reveal things that, at least for me, take some of the fun out of it. So I simply dont watch them, and therefore do consider them spoilers.

Exactly, previews are considered spoilers on this board and thus HAVE to be spoiler fonted!

And a request for everyone: please report posts that need to be edited, don't (just) post in the thread - that doesn't keep others from being spoilt!

I, too, have missed good ol' Smokey. :frown:

But then I noticed in Hurley's recap of the island for his mom, that out of everything that happens--and there has been quite a lot--he made specific mention of the smoke monster. So that made me hopeful that Smokey would reappear. They've GOT to give more of Smokey's story. It's driving me crazy!

We just saw him towards the end of last season! Give it time, we'll see him again.
