OK, I get it. At first, I was really annoyed with Frogurt appearing out of nowhere and being so annoying (to the Left-Behinds), taking up screentime (poor me), but TPTB killed him on-screen, with a flaming arrow, no less. They even showed him going up in flames.

There are very twisted minds writing this show.

He really didn't "appear out of nowhere", Frogurt has been around since at least season 2 (see S.O.S). He's just never gotten much screen time.

From Frogurt's Character page on Lostpedia:

Neil "Frogurt" was first mentioned by Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof in the April 3rd, 2006 Official Lost Podcast as one of the yet-unidentified survivors who would soon become more "interesting." After several episodes with no new characters, the promise was repeated on July 26, 2007 at the Comic Con 2007 at San Diego.

Yes, I was already aware of the earlier Frogurt references! I've been avidly following the show from Day One. ;)

Well, I guess if they mean as a second example that the Island has no tolerance for whiners. Obviously Arzt was the first, and whatever happened to the "Rash guy" ?

I think the difference between Frogurt and Nikki and Paolo is that Nikki and Paolo were originally supposed to be around longer and have bigger roles but they were wildy unpopular. I think Frogurt was supposed to die.

We rather liked Pikki, but Frogurt was just a pain in the rear. I bet we don't hear his name anymore except when someone says, "Hey dude, don't go all frogurt on me/" or "Don't be a frogurt."

Since you are only one person you cant say "WE" you cant speak for everyone. I didnt like Pikki since they just tossed them into the LOST, If they would have done any of the extra's I wouln't have had a problem with them.

FYI The rash guy was Sullivan

I just like how they introduced him and then immediately killed him off before anyone had a chance to complain about him.

And I'm one of the few who didn't mind Pikki all that much and think their episode is one of the classics. That death continues to haunt me.

Now that is an interesting thought, hmmmm.

Pikki was (were?) just beginning to grow on me when "all that happened". Their death doesn't haunt me because I know it's fiction and I like dark fiction, and I know that Darlton have twisted minds spawned by too much comic book reading.

That is a good point because at that time, fans were imploring TPTB to show us more about the redshirts.

Flaming arrows are much more dramatic than dying in your sleep...;) On the other hand Tabby, I dissagree with you matching the importance of Pikki with Neil's. If Pikki did anything to advance the overall story arc, it's to make us realize that there is poison on the Island that could make someone pass for dead, and that there is perhaps a "Cobra" amongst the Losties. I'm hoping the poison plays a part in how Jacob got trapped or conned into spacetime oblivion.

Since you are only one person you cant say "WE" you cant speak for everyone. Papa Thor wasn't referring to US here that post at the fuselage when he said "we"... He meant his family, as in Mama Thor and kids. In the same reply to Papa Thor, you give him info he didn't ask for...FYI The rash guy was Sullivan FYI, it's
CaduceusRex[/B];2070589]...and whatever happened to the "Rash guy" ? who needed the info. If there's one person here at the lage who's respectful of other people's opinions and theories, it's Papa Thor.
"Don't be a frogurt."
Classic, and well said...:rotflmao2:

I love a twisted story as much as anyone. That reveal that they were alive and paralysed was like a good slap though, it lingered. I just remember laying in bed after that scene going "Damn!". Oh man, what a horrible way to go.
They can bring Paolo anytime they want.

True enough Kath, it could mean anything. I kinda overeacted a little, but judging from your post you took it with a grain a salt, which is excellent. I didn't want to start some bullcaca over a slight misunderstanding as a "we"...;)

I feel just the opposite. I liked Frogurt. He didn't seem out of place to me, and added some nice humor, whereas Nikki and Paulo felt really forced, and I couldn't stand them at all. I was glad to see them go, and didn't really care for their "death" episode. I think if Frogurt had been introduced sooner, he could have been a very interesting character for TPTB to develop.

While I have a certain affection for the actor because he was the Aaron Burr guy in the milk ads, you could tell Neil was going to be a tool and in my mind there are plenty of tools on the show already. The writers got so much grief over Nikki and Paolo that I don't blame them for taking someone out quickly.

I think the title of this thread is actually very true.

Both Nikki/Paolo and Neil Frogurt were mentioned as though they would have important story moving implications, or what have you.

then, they're killed instead....

so, either TPB decided to go in different directions each time, OR there is something we don't yet know about these characters and their deaths.

unless I'm remembering incorrectly. I seem to recall that "frogurt" was going to have something to do with that manuscript that was found called "bad twin" or something like that.

does anyone remember any of this? I might be remembering it wrong.

Neil Frogurt was mentioned WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY back when Bernard was building the SOS sign that never got finished. Pikki just showed up magically one day in season 3 and it was like we were supposed to know, that is why the fans got mad and the writers killed them off

The Manuscript was written by Gary Troup who got sucked into the Engin when Locked called out to him.
