At the beginning of the first episode the Namaste guy explains that in the orchid there is a limitless energy that could be used to manipulate time. If that energy should all be realest at once "God help us all."

Ms Hawkings at the end of the second episode tells Ben that he has 70 hours to get everyone back on the island or "God help us all."

Coincidence or not?

There could be some connectivity there given that both characters were involved in time travel or it could be a case as often happens of characters saying the same line. I wonder does Ms. Hawking refer to some event involving the energy of the island which could destroy the world or is there some window open in that 70 hour period which could allow Widmore to gain control of the island and I get the feeling that Widmore gaining control of the island could have some pretty negative global implications.

Good catch, I think this is the case. If they dont get back in 70 hours all of the energy will be released. Hence the world will be destroyed. Why the survivors need to get back to prevent this I dont know.

Possibly what could have occurred moving the donkey wheel started letting out large amounts of the energy. Time traveling thus began with the energy releases. (dont know why hostiles wouldnt time travel)

The Dharma Inititaive when mining exposed this energy and this was the incident, possibly the travelling occurred before and they were able to stop it by blocking it somehow. (The inputting of the keys every 108 minutes stopped it)

FOr some reason i think that ethey did not want to stop all the energy from being released, but when Desmind turned the faile safe key it was able to block all of it.

Again it was moving the donkey wheel again that reopened the flowing of mass amounts of energy casuing time travel.

1 option if this is true would be to create a new hatch to input numbers. The other yet to be seen but i guess it involves the reunification of the Losties
