A guy at my work found something interesting about Daniels Journal in "The Lie".

"I'm still fascinated by Daniel Faraday's journal (http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Daniel%27s_journal). I wrote a bit about this before (http://impossiblefunky.blogspot.com/2008/02/faradays-journal.html). Below are some screencaps from the first episode of the fifth season. In a show where continuity is key and there's little left "to chance" (or so we're lead to believe), it seems that this error is deliberate."

The problem with all this is that, since the writers of Lost have introduced time travel as one of the major themes of the series, everything is completely up for grabs, since time travel is not something that can be accurately predicted or analyzed from a realistic perspective. Time travel is similar to when the main character in a story wakes up and realizes that the entire story has been "just a dream", as for instance what happened to Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.

So now that Lost has become linked intrinsically with time travel, nobody can really know (except for the writers) what will happen from one episode to the next, since it's all based on complete and total conjecture. What's going to happen in future episodes cannot in any way be accurately predicted by anyone who is not directly connected with the creation of the plotline. So we fans are left with nothing.

So, sure, Desmond is Daniel's constant. Big whoop. It would have been so much more meaningful if we could actually believe that. But now all we have left is just bits and pieces of whatever scraps they happen to drop to us as they make things up as they go along.

I'm loving the whole time-travel thing, I believe it's where we were going all along.
It's the first thing I've seen explain why they lived through the crash. If space/time is altered so probably is gravity and density, and now there's a logical excuse why they didn't die on impact. Still can't explain smokey.

Back to the topic.
I knew that page looked different.I thought it wasn't red, but I guess it was just a different shade of red. I really hope that this was as thought out as you think, and that we'll see when he writes it this time and maybe see who puts the cup down creating the ring stain. It'd be kind of a bummer if it was just a continuity goof. I wish they'd have made it worded differently or had more words underlined. That's the only thing that makes me doubt it. The same word is underlined. But yo'd think if they took the time to copy the color and the under line they could've made the other page similar. It's like the photos on the wall in Confirmed Dead, still don't have a clue why that happened, or if we'll ever know.

If you're right, it makes sense why they can only do 16-17 episodes instead of 24, with having to deal intangible time-travel related continuity.

I dont see this one as a continuity goof. If they in fact had lost the journal from The Constant (which I doubt), before they sat down to rewrite a page to use in Because You Left, I'd think they'd simply have checked film footage to see what was there before. Seems to be a deliberate difference, although I am also of the opinion that Daniel is not telling the entire truth that when he says that you cannot change what has happened in time. A continuity goof is possible, and would indeed be disappointing, but I think its unlikely.

We've seen these anomalies many times before: Clare's diary, Charlie's lists, Des' painting in the hatch, the new kiosk in London where Charlie is busking, the different versions of the original hatch where the stero and lamps changed slightly.
I'm sre there are loads of different clues that will all tell us 'when' each event is happening and how many times the players have to 'go back'.

I wouldn't get too worked up over this. Similar stuff has happened and the producers say it's just a mistake.
