Sorry if it's already been said. Dr Candle is said to have lost his arm and now we see Jones ordering one of the men to cut Juliet's hand off. Any connections?

Pretty sure we haven't seen it come off, but in some of the Orientation films he has a prosthetic. Also, during the "pinhole" message video from comic-con (where we hear Daniel talking in the background as Candle/Cheng tries to send a message to the future) he clutches his arm as if Daniel told him he'd be losing it. Remember season 1 on a trek through the jungle....Rousseau told our group "This is where Montand lost his arm" in the jungle??? I think they were on the way to the black rock to get dynamite to blow the hatch.
