Dr. Chang tells the Dharma digger that if they can harness the energy.....blah blah blah time travel... there are rules. He doesn't seemed concerned that he just told this guy top secret stufff... considering
the Orchid is hidden under a fake botanical station and the orientation video asks the chosen to lie to their family and friends about what they are doing.
Dr. Chang seems annoyed at having to make the Wick, Wax, Candle videos and be the face of Dharma on the island. Where are the DeGroots and why can't they talk? They are an unanswered thorn in my side.
The interesting thing is that if there are iterations of a time loop... that means that Chang chose an alias at least 3 times having to do with light.... at this rate what might his next name be?

Well there isn't any proof the DeGroots actually exist. And Chang seemed like he had a bit of an ego. He seemed to have a bit of a superior attitude.

We haven't met them but they do exist, we saw them in a video.

The couple featured in the Dharma films as Gerald and Karen DeGroot could be actors, the footage of them has the quality of a staged industrial training film. The only person we know exists and is actually a scientist with the DI from the films is Dr Chang. The couple in the film could be actors hired and footage the DI shot elsewhere. Curiously, in the training films we've seen Chang in the various Dharma Stations but never the DeGroots, which is odd given that the Dharma Initiative is there brainchild. Maybe Chang is just better on camera. But in the one flashback to Dharma during Ben's childhood they were never seen or referenced by anyone. I know we haven't see much of the active Dharma Initiative but have they ever been referenced by any Dharma members outside of the training films? Is there any evidence, thus far that they are or were ever on the island? They could be just a creation of the DI, two hippie academics to attract likeminded individuals to the DI because it seems to me that the DI had a dark side or weren't exactly 100% genuine in there beliefs.

Well this is the season we're going to get our Dharma indoctrination. I don't recall if the DeGroots we're part of the Lost experience, or was that just the Hanso Foundationo, and what's the connection between DI, Hanso, & Widmore? Luckily, I think we may know most of this by season's end.
As far as Candewichalliwax goes if he truly believes nothing can be change there's no reason for a secret but maybe by the time he does the Orchid film, he knows there are dangers. He sure seemd worried bout the double bunny 15s.:eek2:

I have tried to figure out the DeGroots, but they seem not to exist past the orientation videos... so, I'm inclined to think they were also invented to put the hippy face on the DI as an intellectual commune when in reality that's not what they were/are? Then there's the messiah thing... creating a messiah through science.... would this idea also attract the kind of recruits they are/were looking for... poeople of science AND faith?

I like Dr. Matches. At least now he has something to light all those candle wicks with.
