View Full Version : What the heck does Jin make of all this?

I've been so busy arguing about the Jin/Rousseau memory paradox i didn't even stop to think what Jin must think of all of this.

He remembers the freighter exploding then - "hi i'm Daniel Rousseau, but not how you remember, you see, i look 16 but i'm playing a mid-20 year old french woman who looks nothing this when you meet her in 2004, heck, i don't even speak like her"

poor jin.

First, I don't think there is a paradox because there are a myriad of reasons why Rousseau didn't recognize or didn't mention recognizing Jin which I won't get into they have been pointed out in other threads. I think Jin is too dehydrated and confused to fully process the girl standing over him saying, "I'm Danielle Rousseau."

Jin's a smart guy and it will sink in eventually but yeah lol....right now this has probably been Jin's largest personal WTF moment and I think he's still taking it all in. He's probably lost the capacity for thought til we see him next :D

Well if he's been time shifting like we suspect along with the other leftbehinders it probably freaked him pretty good when day suddenly turned to night and vice versa. This is probably the only thing he experienced since he's been floating in the ocean and not on the island to see the changes the rest have (camp suddenly not being there, crazy army people etc.).

Jin just saw his pregnant wife taking off from the freighter in a helicopter. Then the freighter blew up, and he's been floating around for days ... no doubt starving, dehydrated, and still suffering some burn and shock damage from the explosion.

Then he comes to on the beach with some strange young French girl with a vaguely familiar name talking to him.

I think Jin is thinking whatever the Korean is for "Just another day on the island!"

Hehe.

Personally, I think Jin's head is just going to melt into the sand. I loved the Rousseau-Jin scene.

That place is a pretty eventful zip code, isn't it :D

I'm just glad they finally gave Jin something to do.

The thing i'm wondering is just how he is coping with comprehending what he has seen.

Remember, everyone traveling back in time has had some explination of just what is happening except for Jin. Locke knows the island was moved, Richard explained some to him, he's seen the DHARMA videos. Sawyer/Juliette etc all have Daniel.

I wonder just what Jin thinks is happening, does he think he is dead? what does he make for the changes in day and night and the whether, or has he been unconsious the whole time?

Yeah, Jin and Rose and Bernard, because the two are haywire somewhere in the jungle, fully conscious, all by their lonesomes and wondering wtf is going on?! :eek2:

As to the jin/Rousseau paradox, I'm still waiting for someone to show us when they ever met directly. Cause I don't think it happened, so I don't know where to look.

My 1st thought was the poor guy worked so hard to learn English and now he has to learn French!
I have no idea how he can process the time jumps, since nobody is there to explain what is going on. I won't be surprised if he looks at the French crew and starts yelling "Others!"

It sets up an interesting conflict between Jin and the French team. Using an analogy Jin is a senior and they're the freshmen. He knows what dangers of the island and they don't. And since it is more than likely that Rousseau's story because it probably went through camp Lostie after Sayid returned from his first encounter with her. Language barrier aside, whether he can get them to listen to him regarding the dangers of the island will be a challenge. Montand seems to be a bit arrogant so it doesn't look good.

i think jin is so glad to be alive. his memory of his wife in the helicopter and wondering if he was ever going to see her again, and then he's alive!!!! then he realizes just who danielle is. he knows this island is a weird place to be.

in the promos:

he is definitely bewildered and it looks like sawyer is holding a gun, at a distance, to his back. then jin slowly turns around. they are going to be so glad to see each other!

now, if only they could find claire!

Thank you for the laugh, I literally laughed out loud, I don't lol much I hate it, typing lol I love to laugh.

I bet somewhere in his mind he's thinking " What I would do for a new nickname right now"

Also there is no Jin/Rousseau paradox, I'm almost certain they had no direct contact, plus Rousseau was alone on a crazy Island, with polar bears, smoke monsters and people who run around without shoes taking babies, plus she killed her friends and lost her child, she has simply forgot about this encounter it's not that much of a stretch, plus whenever she showed up there were far more important things to talk about.
Maybe she does remember him, imagine though if she tried to explain everything "Hey, I met you before, when I first got here. We pulled you out of the water, then you just sort of vanished into thin air, it was wierd, where'd you go?" How crazy would she have looked then:biggrin:

Plus on the more practical side of things Jin and Danielle couldn't communicate because Jin only recently began speaking English, so they couldn't interact. And Jin is probably thinking, in sixteen years how did Rousseau's accent change?

See, not sure if thats the right way to look at it ... Danielle would not have remembered meeting Jin ever because it hadnt happened ( yet)... If Danielle was alive now,, she would wake up tomorrow and would have had a "dream/memory" of that event... Just like Desmond did with the Daniel meeting.... You cant change the past but you can implant memories of it in future beings,,,,,, umm ,, yeah ,, something like that .

The Desmond thing is different because, well, Desmond is different.

Maybe he thought, "Whoa. I floated all the way to France? Cool. Hope I washed up somewhere near Nice and not on the Normandy side."
