I have two questions related to the '46 hours earlier' card.

Opening scene shows Jack, Hurley and Kate on the island. Then we see a card explaining that we're 46 hours earlier.

Next we hear Eloise say:
While the movements of the island seem random, this man and his team created a series of equations which tell us with a high degree of probability where it is going to be at a certain point in time. Windows, as it were, that, while open, provide a route back. Unfortunately these windows don't stay open for very long. Yours closes in 36 hours.
Where did the extra ten hours go? Not on the flight, I presume. I don't think they're presuming they were on hour 10 of the flight, because the Eloise explains that the window is not their window of opportunity, but the window that provides the route. So I think there is some unaccounted-for time. Huh?

At the same time, the last scene of the episode shows Jin in Dharma clothes. This suggests they're either in the past, or they're in the present, and Jin has time-shifted forward while in Dharma gear. What I'm getting at is I wonder if there is some way in which the card is exclaiming '46 hours earlier' in a fast and loose way. That card may have been just as correct to say '20 years later'.

So, what gives?

Ah, thanks. New to the boards, skimmed the tites. Joined up just to ask the question.
