The references to Foucault pendulum (in the lamp post station) and Jeremy Bentham lead me to this:
Panopticon it's a type of prison designed by Bentham, you should read the wikipedia article this is really interesting, Presidio modelo a prison in Cuba for example is a panopticon prison and i always thought lost was refering a lot to the island of Cuba and Guantanamo and the isla de la juventud but that's not my point here. I think maybe the dharma stations are organized the same way panopticon prison are, remember the pearl station where you could see all the other stations....it makes me think of that.
