I know this might be in the wrong spot and some of these have been posted before but here goes...

Watchmen/Lost Similarities (in no particular order)
Most of these are from the book, not all of them ended up in the movie. Some are things I’ve noticed on different message boards, others I haven’t really seen anywhere but it just occurred to me that these things were similar.

1) In watchmen the name of the News Stand owner is Bernard and he says his wife’s name was Rose and that she died of cancer. Similar to Bernard and Rose on Lost.

2) In watchmen Laurie (silk spectre II) grows up resenting the Comedian and doesn’t understand why her mother (Original Silk Spectre) doesn’t hate him as well, since he attempted to rape her and treated her brutally. Then she eventually finds out the Comedian is actually her father. Similar to Kate not understanding why her mom still loves the guy that beats her, Kate ends up finding out he’s actually her father.

3) In watchmen Dr. Manhattan holds an old picture of him and his first girlfriend, similar to Desmond’s picture of himself and penny.

4) In watchmen Dr. Manhattan experiences all time lines at one time, similar to Desmond in the episode “the constant” where he was in several time periods or “lines” himself.

5) Laurie as a little girl plays with a snow globe, and she says “I used to pretend there was another world inside the ball, a world with a different time… slow time”. We’ve seen a lot of references to Snow Globes on lost, but also we know that time moves slower on the island as apposed to the outside world, or at least moves at a different time.

6) The comedian wears a smiley face button on his shirt. Similar to the smiley face on Henry Gales hot air balloon.

7) Viedt buys a private uncharted island in the ‘70s where he builds research labs and an utopian society for artist where they will be working on building the “squid” very similar to the island on lost and the Hanso Foundation forming Darma. They have scientist and doctors living on an uncharted island doing research and test as well living in an utopian society.

8) In watchmen Viedt promises all the artist and scientist who live on the island they can go back home now that the creature is finished. But once they get on the boat to head home, Viedt blows it up. This is similar to Ben constantly promising to send people back home but never following through with it.

9) At the end of Watchmen Manhattan, Nite Owl, and Laurie all agree with Viedt that they have to lie about what happened so that the world will believe that there was actually an alien attack thus creating a peaceful world for everyone. They don’t want to lie but they are convinced that it is the only way to protect the world. This is similar to Jack telling the Oceanic 6 that they have to lie about what actually happened in order to protect the ones they care about. They don’t want to lie, but they feel it’s the only way.

10) In Watchmen there is a comic book within the book called the Black Freighter. On lost there is a mysterious ship called the Black Rock. Also Charles Widmore sends a boat to the island to remove Ben. The boat is constantly called the “Freighter” who calls boats Freighters?

11) In Watchmen there is a love triangle between Manhattan, Laurie, and Nite Owl. There is also a love triangle between Sawyer, Jack, and Kate…. The question is which one is Nite Owl and which one is Manhattan.

12) On lost, for every major scene there is typically someone listening to a record with a song that in some way relates to the story, in Watchmen at the end of most of the chapters there are quotes, quite a few of them are from songs, and music plays into several scenes in the Watchmen book, such as the song played when Nite Owl and Laurie rescue the people from the burning building. As well as the quote from “All Along the Watchtower” as Nite Owl and Roarshack are approaching Viedts hide out in the snow.

13) Viedt has a tropical paradise in the middle of anartica. Similar to us seeing the polar bears in a tropical paradise on Lost.

14) In Watchmen Jon’s dad repaired watches and Jon picked up the trade. Its because of the watch that he goes back into the room where he becomes Dr. Manhattan. On Lost Jin is on the plane and ends up on the island because Mr. Kwon gives him a watch that hes supposed to give to someone in LA. Its because of the watch that Jon becomes Dr. Manhattan, and its because of a watch that Jin ends up on the island. Also Christian gives Jack a watched owned by jacks grandfather that is passed down to Christian then to Jack. That watch might be significant as well.

15) In watchmen there is a comic book “The black freighter” that paralles what is happening in watchmen. In lost we’ve seen a number of comic books appear that seem to parallel what is happening on the show. First we see Hugo has a comic book that Walt ends up with on the island. It has polar bears. When Richard comes to visit a young Lock to see if he’s going to grow up to be their leader, one of the items he shows Jon is a comic book from the 1950’s about a mysterious island lost in space and time. And then most recently we see Hugo with another comic book as he is boarding Ajera 316, it is the Spanish version of the comic book “Y the last man on earth” detailing the story of a global catastrophe that kills every male but one. We see the front and the back of the comic book in the shot, on the back cover are three men dressed in Hasmat suits like the one Desmond wore while in the hatch when he would have to go outside.

16) Older Walt on Lost bears a resemblance to the young man sitting at the newsstand reading the tales of the black freighter in Watchmen.

17) Viedt owns a global company that has made him millions of dollars in a short period of time since retiring as Ozymandais, much like Charles Widmore has done since leaving the island he has created a global company that has made him millions of dollars.

18) In watchmen we end up learning that Viedt industries owns all these smaller companies that set up everything that happens in watchmen. In lost we might end up seeing that Paik industries or Widmore industries actually owns Hanso foundation or Dharam, or that Hanso/Dharam owns Widmore or Paik.

19) In watchmen we see two generations of Superheroes. The minutemen which included Silk Spectre One, Night Owl One, Captain Matropolis, The comedian, Dollar Bill and others. Then we see the “watchmen” including Silk Spectre Two, Night Owl Two, the comedian, Rorshack, and Dr. Manhattan. Most of them had ties either to a parent from the previous generation or were carrying on the work of someone from the first generation. In Lost we are now seeing that it seems like many of the Losties families had previous connections to the island, making them Second Generation. It now seems that Jack’s dad had previously been on the island, as well as his grandfather. Daniel’s mother had been there before. Desmond has a tie back Charles widmore through penny. Could it be they are the second generation sent to carry on what the first generation didn’t finish.

20) Watchmen uses Flashbacks to tell the stories of the Comedian from each characters perspective through the comic book. Dr. Manhattan helps Laurie to flashback to moments in her life, including flashing back to the time when her mother was fighting with her stepfather and the moment that she overheard the Comedian telling her mother that he had the right to see Laurie because she was “his daughter”. Lost uses the same flashback idea to tell the back stories about each character.

21) Watchmen begins with the comedian already dead, but yet flashes back to reveal that the comedian plays a big role in each persons life. Lost begins with Christian Sheppard already dead but flashes back to reveal that he plays a big role in many of the characters lives.

22) In watchmen the comedian as well as Rorshack are brutal men, but at times it seems as if they are the only characters with any actual moral compass. On Lost it seems as if Ben is a very brutal, cold, manipulative person, but yet at times, and he even makes comments where it seems at times that he is the only character with a true moral compass.

23) In watchmen Laurie follows in her mothers footsteps to become Silk Spectre II. At times she seems very happy with her life, other times she acts like the only reason she became what she is was to make her mother happy. In lost Jack follows in his fathers footsteps to become a doctor. At times it appears he’s happy with his life, other times it seems as if he was only doing it to make his father proud of him.

24) In watchmen Dr. Manhattan draw a Hydrogen symbol on his head as his official symbol. In Lost Daniel finds a hydrogen bomb called “Jughead” on the island and it is what in the future is buried and watch Desmond’s hatch was created to maintain by pressing the button.

25) In watchmen most of the superheroes in the watchmen world were modeled after superheroes that Alan Moore (the writer) grew up reading. In Lost the creaters have named many of the characters after Philosophers and scientist (John Locke, Jermy Benthem, Fraiday, etc.) as well as Characters or Authors from books that the creators grew up watching or reading such as Henry Gail (the wizard of oz) Charlett Staples Lewis (C.S. Lewis the chronicles of Narnia).

26) In watchmen Ozymandias is obsessed with Alexander the great, but also models his company and decorating after Egyptian Culture. In lost we she hieroglyphics on cave walls under Ben’s house that are Egyptian, as well on the outside of the temple, and most recently we’ve seen the back side of the four toed statue in the past. It looks as though the statue were Egyptian.

27) In watchmen The Comedian happens upon a mysterisous island which ends up being where Adrian Viedt is constructing the “Squid” and doing all his research. In Lost both Henry Gail and Desmond happen upon an unknown island where Desmond discovers research being done in a hatch by a team of scientist working for what we thought at the time was Dharma.

28) In watchmen Viedt creates a fake Alien Squid and teleports it into New York in order to deceive people. In Lost Charles Widmore creates a fake plane crash and places it at the bottom of the ocean posing as fight 815 in order to deceive people.

29) In watchmen Laurie says that every time Jon makes her time travel she throws up when she arrives. When Jon turns the donkey wheel and ends up in the desert the first thing we see him do is throw up. Now this might be because of the badly broken leg and intense pain, but I thought it was a neat watchmen moment.

Dude, check the general theories section. As you said, several good threads there to add onto.
Never thought of the fake Flight 815 as a squid reference.
The Swan wasn't made to control Jughead. It was to release electromagnetic energy. I'm sure we'll see what controls Jughead.

Starts out good, stretches it a bit later.
#10 - who calls a boat a freighter? Everyone, if it's a freighter. I live around the Great Lakes. Freighters are called freighters

#16 - um.....I'll just say I don't see a significant resemblance and leave it at that.
