View Full Version : Kate By A Giant Leg (Tree Trunk) For What It's Worth...

I haven't seen a post on this yet... At about 33 mins. into the show (sans commercials) When Jack, Kate and Daniel stop by the water to rest, after they get into Hostile territory... It sure looks to me like Kate is at the foot of a statue. It looks like a giant leg (clothed in pants), with a foot (no toes showing, though.). Kate sits on the foot. It's then shown several times in the background. Coincidence, maybe. But it sure looked like that to me. Anyone else? Screencaps, please!

Dude, I thought the same thing....Convinced myself it wasn't...Rethought it....and convinced myself it wasn't.

It sure looked like a leg and a sort of crow foot, but I believe it was a coincidence....And I watched VERY CAREFULLY with the same thing in mind.

First thing my sis said when we saw it was that Kate was sitting on the statue! Yep, an obvious prop shot...

It IS just a tree...but that's a crummy still to show what people thought. There were a couple of angles where it resembles a leg.

Still, It was a tree.

That single image link provided (thus far) does not do justice to the way that the tree looked like a clothed leg with a foot emerging from it.

I have the episode recorded on a DVD, but don't have the ability to provide a better screencap. But there could be much better images provided.

I'm sorry, but even the second link does not show how DISTINCT the tree looked like a leg with a foot emerging.

It was pretty funny. The statuetree looked like legs at the start of the scene before she sat down and it even looked like they had added the feet!!! I also said, "Statue" "No Statue" Statue, over again. I think you have to look at the entire scene from the beginning.

ie: right when Jack says "___" right before Faraday says "___" etc
I'm not seeing it I guess...

Love that you brought us screen caps so fast OnAonXM ! You rock!
I love the first link you gave us! It freaks me out, it looks like the bark-less part of the tree could be a horn, like on a rhinoceros...or a dinosaur...which, brings me to how smokey looked like an elephant when he grabbed Mr. Eco with his trunk and hit him to the ground! Yikes!
Yes, it did look very statue/leg/foot like while Kate was going for a seat, but on second thought, I like the horn image (in my mind) better...

Not to belabor this thread... but perhaps the many are not seeing the *tree* for the forest... the tree in question looks just like a clothed leg with a foot emerging... At almost every juncture but the links provided. Why the powers that be wanted to place this as subterfuge at this late date... And why half those posting want to not see it... OK. But links aside... it looked like we were supposed to think it was THE STATUE!

Is that a wrist and hand at the bottom of the image? maybe?

When Kate walked over to sit down, I definitely thought it was the statue! Then, of course, as the shot widened it became obvious that it was a tree. But there is no way that was a coincidence! TPTB had to know how much it looked like the leg of the statue!

For it to be THE statue, I think they were way too far inland. The statue from the previous season was on the coast, right at water's edge.

Another statue type...guarding the Temple area/Dark Territory.....now that is possible

See, this is why hallucinogens are not for everyone. Some people might just blow a gasket.

Anyhoo, that spot by the creek was just beautiful, as usual. I love those shots.

The reflection in the water could be an upside down ancient Egyptian warrior.

It doesn't look anything like part of The Statue. The Statue's leg would be much larger, and rise up off a very substantial base.

It could always be part of Another Statue. Or just a weird, crazy-looking tree with built-in seating.

Ha, my sister said the same thing.. That it was the foot of the statue.. We re-wound a couple of times and decided it wasn't..

It crossed my mind that it could have been like the trees in Lord of the Rings, walking around carrying the hobbits (like Dom Monaghan ;)) on their backs.. I had to laugh at that imagery.. the trees walking around the island, maybe even throwing apples at Kate (like the Wizard of Oz trees) because she once picked the fruit off the tree.

Thanks JohnnyWishBone. Those were two good caps...and the one that's a one shot of her sitting there drinking water. I don't think it was intentional, but it was cool at the time.

lol......no way is that a leg...still, its good to see people like the show so much to the point where they look everywhere for clues ;)

Kate certainly likes to commune with trees. I bet someone on set probably noticed that the tree resembled a foot and so the director had Kate draw attention to it just to mess with us.

Definitely, especially the things you may find in the reflections of the water.
