View Full Version : This may mean nothing but

I was re-watching Live Together, Die Alone and noticed something that could mean something.
Basically, when Eko is trying to blow open the hatch door with the dynamite, Locke asks Desmond if he thinks it will work.
Des says: "It can take an atom bomb, brother."
Locke replies: "You sure it'll hold?"
Des: "Aye."

Des seems pretty intense about it. And it made me think, you know, now that there is an atom bomb... and time travel going on... maybe Des really did know for sure that the doors would hold up to an atom bomb?

Like I said, could be nothing but a coincidence but I thought it could be worth mentioning.

My bad... it's still a bomb though...

Desmond may not know the difference to be honest.

Maybe Kelvin heard from Radzinski and told Desmond.

True.

I just thought it would be interesting if this line came back in to mean something. God I love time travel theories!

I thought he said, "it would take an atom bomb." I don't think the island would still be there if jughead ever blew up. The historic jughead was 15 megatons, which, if it didn't vaporize the whole island, would at least dramatically change the landscape, and certainly destroy any above-ground structures, like the Flame, the barracks, and the Black Rock.

Did he? Man, I guess I should watch the epi again when I have the time. This could have been a whole waste of a thread...

That's just how I heard it. I could be wrong.

Good link! Would be cool if it had already happened or the dharma peeps somehow find out. I mean why else would they have blast doors???

Well that would certainly answer the question about the blast doors. And we know Radzinsky will end up tethered to his precious bunker, possibly even more paranoid in the aftermath of a bomb.

But why does he start the map at all?
I always took it as an attempt to chart the "unknown island," each addition pursued within the 108 minute window.
Now that we've seen he has full run of the island during Dharma Days, what was the purpose of the map?

They did find out about the H-bomb. Remember the failsafe device that Desmond set off with the key ? That was Jughead. The energy of Jughead neutralized the Island-energy field that was building up. And the hatch DID survive the blast. It landed in the beach camp.

I kind of like this idea. So, in your energy-nuetralizing explosion, is there any leftover radiation? Or does that go poof when the two forces collide?
