Okay so we don't exactly know what this incident is yet but we are pretty much assuming that Dr Cheung, Charlotte and other DI members who survive it are going to get on a sub and leave the island. Fair enough but what about the hostiles? We know Charles, Ben, Eloise and Richard will survive it. I am just wondering whether this incident is as bad as Faraday has led us to believe, especially considering when Locke didn't push the button and no one was killed, surely the incident we are expecting is a similar effect, minus the layers of concrete.

Don't know...but I can't see how detonating an H-Bomb is gonna help.

1) Dr. Chang doesn't seemed to have survived it
2) When Desmond didn't push the button, it seemed to have broke apart flight 815. This was with the concrete there. I would say without the concrete the damage would be pretty severe. Maybe not entire island severe, but some people are going to die.

Don't forget that in that episode, Desmond turned the fail-safe key. If he hadn't done that, they probably would have all died.

Well he's still got two arms and he's got to film an orientation video with one missing before he can die

Sorry, I was thinking of the Purge because the OP said they get on a sub and leave the island, which Chang doesn't do.

The discharge that we saw, I think was a small leak. Remember, it was bein controlled up until that time.
The Incident? I expect something more terrrifying.
Makes you really wonder how a computer controls something so Natural.. and about the time in between the incident and the computer.

To me it seems obvious (though I'm often wrong), that Daniel's actions will not only NOT prevent the incident, they will cause the incident.

I agree. That seems to be where they are leading us to think, anyway.

I think the hostiles will survive in the Temple.

He also mentions "an incident" in the film when explaining the push-the-button protocol. The film is c. 1980, though that doesn't mean much.
