View Full Version : What's Up With Abaddon?

kbru started a thread with a side question about Abaddon, which is where I got this idea.

First off, we know that Abaddon works for Widmore, not DHARMA or whatever.

I'm going to guess that next week, Jack talks about Locke to one or all of these people:
Ellie, Widmore, and/or Richard. They realize "Holy Sh!t, that crazy old man was the chosen one." and this time they don't even bother giving him the Compass, Knife, etc. test. They're convinced and invite him to the science camp, which is, of course, to the Island.

So where does Abaddon fit in? Right now, Richard is pretty damn busy. So Widmore and Locke might've dispatched his right hand man, Matthew Abaddon, to recruit the teenage Locke. Then, 20 something years later, they send Abaddon again to guide Locke to the Walkabout, just as they tried to guide Locke to the Island with the Science Camp.

My theory: Abaddon is Widmore's right hand man, or perhaps Richard's lackey, and handles off Island business when Richard's busy. Off Island, Abaddon and Richard are mortal (abaddon didn't seem to age between the rehab visit and the Freighter), or Abaddon recovered from being shot by Ben.

However, I get the feeling this will be one of the times when the writers will go
"Aww, damn, the fans were right: we forgot Abaddon!"

John Lockes rehab happened sometime in 2000, the last we saw Abbadon was in 2007, I look pretty much the same as I did seven years ago.....now 20 years? that's another actor.

Yeah I meant that we'd see young Abaddon in 77 like we saw young Widmore and young Ellie.

Episode "Two for the Road" I think, when Abbadon is pushing John in the wheelchair and talking about the walkabout, Abbadon asks John if he believes in miracles, to which John says no. Abbadon then says he does believe in them because one happened to him.

Hadn't noticed that the first time around. I wonder, then, if we will ever get to see what Abbadon's miracle was.

Here's the weird part for me.

We are to assume that Widmore sent Abbadon to Locke in the hospital to guide him to Australia which would lead to him being on the island, correct?

1. How did Widmore know about Locke back then?
2. How did Widmore know the plane would crash on the Island, since Desmond's actions were apparently not predictable?
3. WHY would Widmore want Locke to goto the island, and potentially become leader of the Others?

Widmore met Locke in 1954 and he recalled that memory when Locke was teleported to Tunisia.
