You sure are a sweetheart, taking time to answer letters. I'm an almost 52-year-old, returning-to-college, mother of two teenagers. My son wants to be an actor. He's very good. I studied acting. I'm now majoring in art. Following my dream. I loved acting, and I'd love character parts, but I can't help but think I'm more satisfied with design. Perhaps theatrical design. I've been on many set crews (there are SIXTEEN different sets for "My Fair Lady" - SIXTEEN!).

How did you get interested in acting? How did/do you stay focused. I'm always interested in people who follow their bliss. The money thing is hard on me, but I need to be working with color and design. I was a secretary for 18 years before my son was born - never again! Of course, raising two teenagers leaves me with a spotty resume. Any advice there?

You sure are the bee's knees. I hope you get a chance to come back on the show. Best of luck in your career!

Vilya

Hey there! Wow, thanks for your post. Good for you! I guess I just keep focused because acting continues to give me joy. If it didn't, it would be too hard. Color and design, huh? Well there's always the option of eventually turning your "hobby" into something more substantial. In other words, do the "job job" to pay the bills and create your art in your downtime-- just make sure you find that time for yourself. Then you can always parlay it into another source of income but without the stress of being your bread and butter-- like make art and sell it on commission in little boutiques or start helping your friends to decorate their houses or design their gardens. If you're creative, you definitely need a way to feed that part of yourself. Good luck! :)
