Now that we are all done with season 5, and we have several agonizing and painful months ahead before Season 6..What are your Top 5 Episodes from Seasons 1-5?

Here's my take:

#1) Through the Looking Glass (3x22): Charlie Dies. Realizing Jack's flashes have been flashforwards was one of the greatest twists of all time.

#2) The Incident (4x16): Still fresh on my mind. Really didn't want Juliet to die..the scene between her and Sawyer at the end was amazing.

#3) Flashes Before Your Eyes (3x08): Can definitely feel Desmond's pain, really start to understand Penny/Desmond's relationship.

#4) Deus Ex Machina (1x19): Very powerful episode, the first time we really see Locke's vulnerable side on the Island.

#5) Outlaws (1x16): Probably not a popular choice for people's Top 5, but it has a lot of great scenes in my opinion; Sawyer talking to Christian, Kate and Sawyer playing "I never," and Sawyer shooting Duckett.

WOW, this is hard. rewatching just season one, i'm finding so many episodes that were good that i'd forgotten about.

1. the pilot (pt 1)
2. Exodus
3. there's no place like home
4. maternity leave
5. do no harm

you know, tommy, i would love to add shape of things to come because it was an awesome episode, but sadly, i've only watched it once seeing that i cannot fathom ever watching alex die again. even watching the recap in dead is dead (another awesome episode) had my hands over my ears and my eyes closed. too too much for me. but it was a great episode.

5. do no harm

I love the circle of life theme in this episode with Boones death and Aarons birth

Extremely hard, but off the top of my head without thinking too much this is what I've come up with.

there are so many great aspects to this episode. first, the awe and disgust hurley and kate have for jack as a doctor when he's working on boone. i loved it when boone's lung collapsed and he poked a hole in his chest. the camera went to kate and the shock and horror on her face was bigger than anything we've seen, and kate has seen a lot. the little boy talk on the beach when claire walked by was cute. sawyer's concern and "you want me to go with" was great since he was just starting to come out of his selfish attitude. kate yelling for help and jin running to the rescue. sun being so helpful to jack and then pulling the hose out of his arm "you've given enough". boone dying and telling jack it's OK. i think i cried the hardest when jack and sun tried to set boone's leg and he screamed. poor hurley tried to drown it out by covering his ears. of course, shannon sobbing by her brother. she's lost everything. and of course the acting between claire and kate with delivering that baby....excellent. i think i cried the majority of the episode. i had forgotten how wonderful it was. they all worked together to try to save boone and to welcome aaron. love to have more episodes like that.

I havent rewatched in a while, but I remember that Jack just wouldnt give up and he was about to cut Boones leg off...he just was set on "fixing" things when he couldnt. This is when we see Jack really unable to let things go and he just wont give up till he fixes things.

Then the excitement for the Losties that theres a new baby, while Shannon mourns the death of her brother, and he never got to finish what he wanted to say

Do No Harm is a great episode. I just finished watching it for my rewatch. Ah, the good old days of pure character driven action that was actually and completely entertaining and interesting!

It's hard to pick just 5, but in no particular order:

-Walkabout- The end reveal was amazing. It's the episode that got me hooked.
-The Constant- Screw Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Desmond and Penny is the best LOST love story.
-The Pilot- Enough Said.
-Through the Looking Glass- Great episode with a cool ending, and when I felt the show did have a plan and was starting to move into its end game.
-Tricia Tanaka is Dead- This may be a surprise to some people, but I love this episode. Hurley is one of my favorite characters, and this was a great, fun episode. It's definitely an underrated episode.

Honorable mention:
-The Man Behind the Curtain.

Way too hard to pick just 5, I cant do it. So I'll do one episode per season.

Season 1) Pilot
Season 2) Live Together Die Alone
Season 3) Through The Looking Glass
Season 4) There's No Place Like Home
Season 5) This Place Is Death

Very, very tough question, this!

The Constant: that phone call was one of the most powerful moments ever, plus the TT stuff!

Walkabout: Locke, boar, monster, wheelchair: enough said!

Through the Looking Glass: for its WTF quality, and Charlie's heroic death

Do No Harm: yes, I loved this, loved watching Jack go beserk, having Sun tell him off, yelling, 'don't tell me what I can't do!" at her. The Circle of Life aspect, which some found cheesy, really moved me.

The Pilot: the beginning of it all.

Honorable Mention: Dead is Dead. Ben and Locke together (even if he was fake!) just rocks.

There are so many other episodes I just loved, and have watched over and over...

i agree! action-packed, great storyline, great acting on all their parts. loved them using jin in the delivery story. when charlie moved forward to help when he heard claire cry out and jin held him back, the look he gave him was incredible.

1. Walkabout, do I really need to explain this was the episode that sold the show to me, I wasn't certain if I was going to continue watching until the end reveal.
2. I can't remember the name but it was the first episode of season 2, the one that starts with Desmond waking up in the Swan
3. The Incident parts 1&2
4. The Constant, that final phone conversation scene between Desmond and Penny where they are jumping back and forth between their faces is just remarkable, imho.
5. Numbers, "I want some freakin' answers" nuff said

And an Honorbale mention goes out to Pilot parts 1&2, the first time we really see Smokey as well, I think it was in the season finale of season 1, and the episode that Eko dies in is also one of my favs.

Haha, it really is pretty hard to do a Top 5 for all 5 seasons. I could probably do a Top 5 for each season, easily. Anyway, to add on to my Top 5 earlier, I would have to add these as honorable mentions:

Greatest Hits: The writer's gave us Charlie's redemption story as they wrote him off.

Live Together, Die Alone: Season finale of season 2...Getting Desmond's back-story was nice, and when he finds the letter from Penny in his book as he is pondering suicide was very powerful.

-Tricia Tanaka is Dead- This may be a surprise to some people, but I love this episode. Hurley is one of my favorite characters, and this was a great, fun episode. It's definitely an underrated episode.

TTID was a terrific episode. In my mind it is the best "feel good" episode of the entire series. Seeing Jin, Sawyer, and Hurley crack open beers and shoot the sh** was so cool and when they get the van running in the end it was epic! The episode has a very Stand By Me vibe to it.

My honorable mentions: Solitary, Numbers, Exodus, Man of Science Man of Faith, The Other 48 Days, Live Together Die Alone, Further Instructions, The Cost of Living, Enter 77, The Man from Tallahassee, The Brig, One of Us, Catch 22, Flashes Before Your Eyes, Greatest Hits, Confirmed Dead, The Economist, The Shape of Things to Come, Cabin Fever, Jughead, This Place is Death, The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham, Dead is Dead, The Incident

Exactly. But it always ends up near the bottom of those episode rankings, probably because it doesn't have any mind-bending twists or big mythological implications.

Plus, the Stand By Me-ishness is another good Stephen King reference. And I like those, especially because he's a fellow Mainer.

It's just a funny, heart warming. feel-good episode. And Lost hasn't had many of those. But they normally are Hurley episodes.

# BEST TV EPISODE EVER - PILOT (parts 1 & 2):
SHANNON: People don't carry guns on planes.
SAWYER: They do if they're a US Marshal, sweet cheeks. There was one on the plane.
KATE: How do you know that?
SAWYER: I saw a guy lying there with an ankle holster, so I took the gun. I thought it might come in handy. Guess what? I just shot a bear.

#1 WALKABOUT:
CHARLIE: Did you get it?
HURLEY: Dude, quit asking me that.
CHARLIE: Sorry. You, you said you knew how to fish.
HURLEY: Yeah, off the Santa Monica pier with my old man and a fishing pole and bait. Never had to try and poke one with a sharp stick.

#2 RAISED BY ANOTHER:
HURLEY: Great, where are you from Ethan Rom?
ETHAN: Ontario.
HURLEY: Right on, love Canada, great. Uh, well that should do it. Thanks for your time, dude.
ETHAN: Hey, what's this for?
....
ETHAN: Hello there. ** One of the scariest moments ever!
CHARLIE: Ethan, where's Jack?

#3 ALL THE BEST COWBOYS HAVE DADDY ISSUES:
JACK: No, no.
KATE: Jack, Jack. [She's trying to stop him from doing CPR.]
[Jack's starts thumping his chest again.]
KATE: Stop. Stop. ** I really thought Charlie was dead - so emotional!
JACK: C'mon. C'mon.
[Suddenly, Charlie breathes.]

#4 DEUS EX MACHINA:
JACK: You picking up on a little Korean there, Michael?
MICHAEL: Yeah, I'm pretty sure I know how to say: faster and idiot.

#5 DO NO HARM:
JACK: We can't use the axe.
SUN: What are you doing?
JACK: The right leg is filling with blood. If I don't stop it I won't be able to save him.
SUN: You don't mean that...
JACK: The leg is dead.
[Jack cuts a log in half using the container door.]
JACK: There's no other choice.

I refuse to pick only five episodes. I'm not even sure if I could do five episodes for each season!

Those last four that theVoid listed were actually all brilliant episodes. We just don't know why yet. I know what you mean, I reacted strongly against both "Eggtown" and the seemingly anti-climatic flashbacks of "Stranger in a Strange Land" at first, too...but now I realize I was too hasty. :)
