Every single person I know who stopped watching LOST did so in the same way. And you can probably get them back.
They all initially got hooked and then for one reason or another missed an episode that didn't get recorded. Told that they could watch missed episodes at abc.com, they went over there only to find out that only a very select few browser/operating systems were allowed to watch the missed episodes. No matter how many people may call or write to complain, they have no interest in having their player support more than 5% of the browser/OS combinations.
So, unable to view the missed episode they had the choice of (1) watching the next episode having missed an episode (I think you must know LOST well enough to know that this is not a good solution) or (2) waiting for the dvds. By the time the DVDs came out so much time had passed and there was so much frustration with and anger at ABCs attitude, that they had given up, fearing being put in that same position again.
Then the Hulu announcement came and they thought, "Fantastic I can come back to LOST without fearing missing episodes." There were rumors that LOST would be made available on Hulu because ABC was unable to handle most browser/OS combinations. Disney/ABC would invest in Hulu and their content would be made available on Hulu.
Recently the LOST podcasters started saying LOST was available on Hulu.
No such luck. Nothing at all is available on Hulu or in Hulu-type formats that people can view. All there are are links to the unviewable ABC site. ABC is fully aware that many if not most of their viewers are unable to watch the content on their site. And apparently they are doing nothing about it. For most shows this is not catastrophic, but it is catastrophic for LOST.
Just to give you an idea, not one single person I know is able to view the episodes on ABC.
Please please please, either make sure the podcasters realize that it isn't available on Hulu or viewable for most configurations or better yet, bring your former viewers back by having it possible to view a missed episode without waiting until LOST is over.
Thanks for a fantastic show, please let more folks enjoy it.
If you do the latter, please publicize it in some way that will let all these people know it is safe to come back.
