Doesn't the 'whoosh' sound that indicates a narrative shift sound a little broken this season? There's always been a contention that the flash-backs, -forwards, and -sideways have had more than just a viewer link to them, something that had quite a bit of credence lent to it due to Jack's behavior tonight. I like the new 'whoosh' :D

I was about to make a thread about the new "woosh"
My girlfriend was the first one to point it out as we were watching. She thinks it sounds like a backwards version of the old sound effect. Not sure what this indicates, other than we are not in Kansas anymore.
The sound used to be a wave - now it's a plane engine.

You guys are good! Didn't even nontice the "new whoosh"! But I noticed the "Miles hears dead people" routine to not be the same - wihich made me wonder if maybe the reset has affected his "powers"?

it would be great if we could get some actual comparison in the form of mp3

The old whoosh WAS an airplane jet noise, dunno what sier is talking about. I think my gf is right and that the new whoosh is the old one, only reversed, or otherwise manipulated.

Is there any particular whoosh you want analyzed? I already have the audio ripped and split into channels from listening to the whispers, so I just need the scene it happens in and I can bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate it to try and hear something. Try to be as specific as possible please since I'm not entirely sure what a whoosh entails.

Afterwards, however, you won't be able to mail it.
(which is what i'm sure you were alluding to...didn't go unnoticed.)

This is the whoosh in going from one TIME to another TIME, i.e: the shift to Flash-Sidewayas. They have changed it from how it used to sound for a FF or FB.

The new whoosh sound is the old sound mixed with a variety of new effects.
I can hear a jet engine sound effect and also a little bit of the time travel flash sound effects in there as well.
They added some sort of skipping effect to it too.
It's pretty cool, in my opinion. They obviously differentiated it from the original flashback / flashforward sound. And I think that's awesome.
