So in Recon we get a really good dose of what "infected" characters look like. Supposedly Sayid and Claire are infected or claimed according to Dogen. And in this episode both Claire and Sayid appear... out there. So it got me to thinking about the vaccines from way back in season 2. Who has been injected with them? Who hasn't?

So, why Sawyer, Jack, Kate, etc maybe being injected? Consider the In-processing station the DI used for processing new recruits. We saw it in Namaste. We also saw people getting injected (http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/File:Curtain-cap108.jpg) as part of their processing. Both the Sawyer crew and then later, the Jack, Kate, Hurley crew were motivated to fit in with the DI during the 74-77 years. They wouldn't want to make a spectacle of themselves and resist the DI's ways of doing things, so they would have likely taken shots if it was part of the normal scene there. Sayid was jailed and then on the run for most of the 77 stuff. He was never injected with anything.

We are left with those currently infected never having been inoculated. And we are left with all of the numbered candidates having been inoculated except...

Granted, it's alot of assuming. :laughing: But if you can hang with all of that, sort of makes one worry about Ms Glass Ballerina, no? 42 is Jin imo.

In both instances of the vaccine's seen usage (with Desmond and with Claire at the Staff hatch), it was indicated that the vaccine needed to be injected daily to keep working (what a lousy vaccine!). If indeed they were even the same vaccine, if indeed it was a vaccine used to combat THE sickness, then it still wouldn't matter, since anyone who had been injected has gone without injections for years.

In vitro injections of Aaron probably do not count for Claire. Ethan told her there was enough for the baby, but not her. Here is a list I put together awhile back:
