Richard in a flashsideways with Isabella healthy and happy off the island? I thought this would have been a killer ending.

I have long held the belief that nearly every major character has somebody saved in the flash sideways, healthy or existing where they were dead in the original universe. Richard's Isabella just is another huge example added to the list. The episode could have ended with the now familiar flash sideways sound, followed by Richard at the doctor's house again. MIB shows up this time and covers the medical costs and Richard gets back in time to save his wife (or she was never sick to begin with).

I think it is important who has had a loved one "returned" to them in the flash sideways and the decisions they made on the island. Claire is infected/with MIB and has Aaron back in the FSW, Sayid likewise with Nadia, Ben not with MIB but Alex is back, Locke has Helen, Kate seems like she is still on the run.

Maybe they didn't have this ending, because it is going to be a much bigger reveal with MIB's flash sideways in a healthy relationship with a not crazy mother.

That would be cool, but all of the flashes sideways have shown how things would have been altered post-1977. Isabella passed about 100 years before that, so I don't think it would affect her death.

Everyone assumes that, but that may not be the case. Bens convo with his dad makes me seriously question that.

*They are on an Island, a H-Bomb goes off, Jack/Kate and all of them dissapear to a different timeline.

*Ben and his Dad leave island.

* THey talk about how they Wish they could go back and how different and better things could have been (to the place where one was a Janitor and one almost got murdered by a crazy torturer???)

This scenario just doesnt make sense.

I think this 'reset' happens long before 1977 and Ben and his Dad left for a different reason and Ben was never shot by Sayid, so he never was dunked in the water losing his innocence (hence him being a good guy in the flash sideways), the bomb never went off, etc

But MIB made the offer that he could bring her back. I believe him and it is exactly what he has promised other people on the island. It could be sneaky devil-logic, I will create a parallel universe in which a different copy of you will have the loved one back, but it still seems to be following truth on his part so far and directly connected with what we have seen in the FSW.

But as myself and others have pointed out it goes back to 1977, but also likely removes any actions that happen after that, ie. our time travelers going back to BEFORE the statute was destroyed and making subtle changes there. (The theory I still like is that the rope being left in the ground leads people much earlier to discover the huge pocket of energy/FDW spot).

Also, I think that MIB has control over things off-island in the FSW and if he has made this promise to Richard, the changes can go back as far as MIB wants. MIB might have been released from the island in the FSW, he may be Jacob in the FSW, he may just be a normal guy that knows what is going to happen so he can change events to his liking.

Anyway, I just see the Richard parallel with Isabella following the same theme we have seen for so many characters and I think it is connected with these deals MIB is offering up.

Could Dogan's deal with Jacob actually have been with MIB pretending to be Jacob, because Jacob seemingly doesn't promise loved one resurrection packages? Or is it just because Isabella was dead back in Spain while Jacob was present to be able to heal Dogans son?
