... I still will enjoy Lost as a whole, I think.

I've become somewhat resigned to the fact that a good deal of mysteries will be unanswered, or answered in a way I don't find satisfactorily.

However, the fact remains that the show has created an interesting community, full of dedicated detectives.

And whereas other shows have had mysterious elements in them, I don't know of any that have presented viewers with so many choices that didn't provide a simple answer. Even from the beginning, there's no "right" answer to the Jack/Locke debate. It mirrors the real world in many ways, and does so without taking sides, which I appreciate.

By presenting the island as a science fiction mystery to be solved, Lost has also drawn threads through so many things I like. I think many people can say that because of Lost, they've looked up new theories in quantum physics, or found a reference to an obscure author they had never heard of, or maybe just let them stew some time travel thoughts around in their brain.

And I certainly won't forget renting out the first two seasons and watching them back-to-back-to-back with my wife, spending the weekends learning about this crazy Island, relaxed and together.

So, even if it turns out that Walt comes back, then fuses with Desmond, Aaron and Ji Yeon to form a Mighty Morphin' Island Ranger which then defeats the MiB with the power of love.... I still will appreciate everything Lost has done.

And if you're reading this TPTB.... please don't do that ending.

LOL yeah that was pretty much the lamest climax of a buffy season when they did this. "Heart and Mind and Spirit" to overcome the fiercely dumb Big Bad. It's such a heavy-handed trope. We get it. They're a team. All for one and one for all. WE GET IT.

You know, I've been very surprised at a lot of the negativity this year. Now, no one has to go over it all again in this thread; I've seen the threads and read the arguments and several articulations of displeasure have been very adroit well-presented. I don't propose to rehash it all here. But at the end of the day, I'm still very interested to see what happens.

For instance, I want to know what happens to alt-Jack and alt-Locke. Frankly, I really like those guys. I'm invested in their stories. I want to know what happens with Jack and his son; I want to know what happens to Locke and Helen. I think it's a compelling story. Maybe not exactly what we expected, but still very compelling.
