Is there a concious connection to the works of Richard Adams (Watership Down, The Plague Dogs, Shardik) in LOST? I've seen several possible references: Sawyer reading Watership Down, parallels between the Lostways' struggle with the Others and the conflict between the two groups in Watership, and the sudden appearance of the polar bear and Locke's narrow conviction that the island is a benevolent spiritual entity share themes with Shardik. Is there really a Richard Adams connection there, or do I have too much reading time on my hands?
