Hi Damon:

As a student of Peter Weir and an avid fan of 'Lost', I am wondering if the auteur's little known masterpiece 'Fearless' provided any inspiration for your wonderful series?

I refer specifically to the pilot episode with Jack emerging, disoriented in a field, later arriving upon the scene of wreackage and the other survivors, as well as flashback depictions of the crash itself throughout the first and second eps. In terms of both narrative and mise en scene the two do share something in common (there is something of the same hypereality in both works).

Regarding the character flashbacks in the series too (the masterstroke of 'Lost'), their noirish feel, and their emphasis on the subjective elements elements of the characters' experiences [their emotions, their perceptions), also remind me a little of a post-crash motel scene in the aforementioned Weir pic.

Of course these are only points of comparison, as there is much abot 'Lost' that is very different from the work of Weir (and wonderful in its own right). Nonetheless, there does appear to be a certain kinship between yours works (a point which might be further underlined if the 'Truman Show' hypotheses regarding the island's secret is utimately supportedt!)

In any case, deliberate, coincidental or simply my interpretation, your work, like Weir's, brings something truly mythic and transcendent to the medium of visual storytelling and is something to treasure.

Regards,

Andrew.

PS I am sure Peter follows the show.
