Yes, one question. Is there any danger of some of the "magic" (for lack of a better word) being lost when you can talk to cast members? Do you ever wish you hadn't?
as a realist, i accept that the vips, or any celebrity for that matter, are, in reality, a "normal" person...at least to their friends and family.
i only come here occasionally, although i am an avid viewer (which is really only two steps from rabid), but when i am here, i skip the main thread and scroll the "vip" q &a's because i want to see the opinions and reactions of the cast and production staff to whatever the average fan tosses at them.
"magic" is a relative term because, while i don't mind finding out that an "omg!star!" was actually captain of the a/v team in high school, and couldn't even make it through the auditions for the senior play with out vomiting on the stage, there are many others who wants their idols freeze-dried and laminated to perfection for eternity.
but, as i said, i am a realist.
eventually, someone, somewhere will be disillusioned because a vip failed to respond in an "acceptable" manner, and will toss bile upon the circle in an effort to demonstrate how "common" their former idol actually is.
the thing is, ya'll all are common, in your own way. you read books, and go to movies, and discuss politics and make unfortunate comments that you pray no one will ever spread. your office is a soundstage, your watercooler a motorhome, and that is just the way it is.
the only thing that could totally put me off a "star" would be for them to just be a total asshole to others for no discernable reason other than that they think they can because of their status.
then again, i have a forgiving nature, and am really too old for a lot of the garbage that passes for "fan adoration" these days. ever so often, i think about what it would be like to meet a vip in person, the ideal setting, and it always comes back to sitting at a table at denny's/waffle house/ihop at 2am and just talking over fries and half decent coffee.
and to contradict everything i have just said, i just realized that you are online as i am writing this, and my inner child is hoping that you will log off before it posts, because *insert teenage whine* what if he doesn't like me? what if he thinks i'm stoooopid?
thank you for you work, both here and on west wing and every place else you tend to pop up when i happen to flip there.
take care
