Hey Jorge.

Wanted to thank you for being a constant source of entertainment since episode one. Your performance is brilliant because your comedic timing is perfect and your characterization is 100% natural. I think many people know someone like Hurley. (Or, if you’re me, on a few occasions have behaved just like Hurley.)

It seems to me that Hurley comes from southern California, (as a Cali girl I recognize the vernacular) and I wanted to know if you were from California yourself?

If you grew up in California, do you speak any Spanish? Many Californians learn Spanish in school; I worked in an environment that was literally 96% Latino, so I was able to pick up quite a bit. (Not to mention learn a bit about varied Latin American countries from Mexico to Guatemala.)

Finally, a bit of a meaty question here.* I wanted to know what obstacles you faced on the road to Lost in getting your career off the ground, and how did you overcome them?

Thanks for your time, and keep up the great work.

Grew up in southern Orange County, California.
I speak Spanish I learned it from my parents who are Cuban and Chilean. I did take a few Spanish classes in High School though.
I don't see my career as full of struggle. I wasn't street enough for a lot of latino roles and couldn't get meeting for middle America roles. For me it was just getting into the room because I knew what I had and I just needed enough people to see it. Eventually the right people saw my goods and gave me work which lead to more work and then lead to this. (I got the meeting for Lost from a job I did on Curb Your Enthusiasm. The Casting Director who gave me the job on Curb gave me my first television job n Spin City)
