Hello Damon~


Thank you for helping to create a show that really provokes a response from the audience. Does it ever cease to amaze you how invested the viewers get in the individual characters? And what is your reaction when characters you (and the others) have written are criticized on the various boards?


I would also like to take the time to thank you for whatever part you've played in the creation of "Jate". It is so refreshing to see a romantic relationship grow from a healthy place of respect and trust, while at the same time still having plenty of obstacles. I know I speak for many, many fans when I say that I love how Jack and Kate, despite their different pasts, really bring out the best in each other. I think it is fantastic how we've seen each of them grow individually with help from the other (Kate learning that it's okay to let her guard down, that it sometimes takes more courage to apologize, and that it is important to take responsibility for one's own actions, and Jack learning that things are seldom black and white, that pain comes with living, and that sometimes, you just have to go with your gut). I think it is such a wonderful thing to see two people who look at each other as dynamic individuals, capable of taking control of their destinies ... that they see the present and the future, instead of dwelling in the past and wallowing in what they did wrong.

Thank you for creating such a realistic pairing with such relate-able issues, where real love involves compromise, sacrifice and putting the other person's feelings ahead of your own pride. It provides such a great sense of enjoyment to see a relationship that is not demeaning, or based on objectification ... one that has a symbiotic exchange of give/take instead of draining all the energy for the other.
