Hi Greg:
I am relatively new to these posts and to this website and I am also a big fan of Lost ever since I got the DVD set of the first season. My question is do you know off hand if there will be a gay character introduced anytime in the forseeable future. I am not only a fan of the show, but I am a gay fan of the show and I was just wondering. It would be sort of nice to see a character that I can personally relate to. I hope this question is not offensive in any way because that isn't my intention. If you can answer this question that would be great, if you can't I am still a big fan of the show.

Thank-You
Matthew

Not an offensive question at all. My sense is that there will not be any gay characters. As disappointing as that may be, keep in mind that ABC/Disney are conservative companies and that gay characters are still very controversial. With "Six Feet Under" ending and "Queer As Folk" also ending (although I didn't think it was well written, but compared to "The L Word" -- which I think is horribly written -- it was practically Emmy worthy), it would be nice to have a gay character (or even couple) on screen.

For now you're going to have to do with fantasy combinations between Jack and Sawyer, or Jack and Eko or whomever, maybe Claire and Kate. There seems to be enough subtext for a Jack/Locke relationship (though I wouldn't give that one more than three months -- they're always arguing).

wow! I really have to thank you for such a quick response. I was not expecting one so quickly. The one problem I had with Queer as folk was it was too much one sided at times. As far as a gay character on lost, that's o.k. I will just leave that kind of relationship to my imagination. Again, thanks for such a quick reply, and I still am a big fan of the show, gay character or no gay character.

Thanks:
Matthew
