LOL- okay, now this topic has more thought in it than you might think* :D
About Jacks- Butch/Crew style haircut.....
Now although the survivors may have sifted through the luggage, and found razors/shaving equipment and maybe sissors stowed in luggage....which may give the occasional close shave or hair trim. One cannot expect Jacks hair to remain the same short style that it is !?* I mean, even if they FOUND some electric clippers in the luggage, they have No electricity ! So they could NOT be used to cut Jacks hair. And you cannot cut hair that short with just sissors. So it must be growing -correct ?!
Well all is fine so far, but what about Flackbacks/backstory on Jack ?* I mean if his hair grows longer as the show progresses, then that means you cannot shoot new scenes for his flashbacks ? (because his hair should always be short as we saw in the previous backstory ?).

I know, all this sounds trivial, but I was wondering if any of the writers have thought about this ?

LOL- okay, some people think too much...and it's JUST a TV show-right*

we can come up with a rationale for most of the hair/makeup/shaving issues - there's grooming kits in the luggage, they figured out how to make shaving cream out of coconut milk, etc...

...but frankly, they are on television, and most viewers prefer their series leads attractive, as opposed to laden with the kind of zits, abrasions, bad hair, lice, crusted filth, open sores and infections that most people would develop if left to their own devides on a desert island.

until we hit our seventh season and do a scintillating uneven haircut/open sore episode.

BUT...you really skirted the question.... I mean....you didn't address the growing of Jacks Hair !?* Will it be growing as the series continues, and if so- what about flashback eps !?

I bring this all up, because I *MYSELF* have had hair the same style as Jacks' and have let it grow out...and it grows fast too !* An average man's hair growth is about 1/2" per month.... Oh wait,* :laugh: LOL- I answered my OWN question.....they haven't BEEN there a month yet* ;)

Btw- has the writing Team every studied the show- "Survivor" for tips ;D

re: survivor - i watched the series finale of the first season and that was it. we really try not to look at other shows for hints.

re: jack's hair - i did answer your question from a non-story driven context. then you answered your own question from an internal logic perspective.

to that i would like to add a rare phenomenon usually observed only in that most rare of creatures, the hollywood leading man. a genetic mutation that regulates the development of certain rapid growth cells (such as head hair, which usually slows down signficantly right after it reaches the "fabulous but manly" stage and beard hair, which usually stops growing after it reaches the ruggedly handsome" phase).

that's a bit of science you won't be seeing on the discovety channel, but it's ALL TRUE.

Jacks'/Matt's hair is gonna stay the same length always !* BTW- not to sound rude or gudgemental, but who chose Matt's hair style? Personally, I don't think it portrays the leading man/Hunk persona very well. But hey, what do I know, I'm a guy !
