I love the suspense that the writers put into Lost. I just have one question.. How long on average does it take you to write a single episode? Thanks for your time,

writing a script can take anywhere from a month from conception to final draft, to five days, to writing it and running the pages down to the set while they film - depending on the show, the latter has never taken place on lost.

it's usually better when you have a wide open window to truly think things through (although sometimes the rush of creativity of the last minute is a pretty cool thing).

lost runs very smoothly - we have generally had wide windows of time to work out the stories in the room with the staff and for the writers to take their time (usually a week/week and a half to write a first draft). i think that kind of opportunity to truly think things thorugh is an important component in the quality of the show.

thanks!

That's cool! I'd love to have the job of a scriptwriter for a show, since I'm very into reading and writing..

Is writing the script for Lost like one giant novel? I've always thought of it that way, with each new episode being a new 'chapter' in the story.

P.S. Thanks for answering my question!
