OK I have heard from two separate legit websites that there will be two different sets of DVDs at two different dates:

Lost: The Complete Second Season - September 5, 2006 - source: TVShowsonDVD.com

Lost: The Complete Second Season - The Extended Edition - October 3, 2006 - source: ComingSoon.net

Will there be 2 sets and if so why? I think having two sets is a terrible idea and reeks of corporate greed to milk every dollar out of Lost fans. Why not just give one set of season 2 DVDs with everything you guys want on it and don't force people to buy two sets? LOST fans will buy both sets because most are as obsessed about the show enough that they will want to know if there was anything they missed in either set. DVD box sets are not cheap. I remember paying for the 1st season of LOST around 70 bucks for the set. If two different DVDs come out I will be torn if I should get both. I want to get the season DVD as soon as possible thats why I might buy the September 5th unextended version because I have friends who saw season one and haven't been able to catch up on season 2. Being that lost is a continuous story I told them not to jump into season 2 without seeing all the episodes in order and promised them I would show them season two before season three came out and they would be behind. Now I want to get the extended version too for the obvious reason that I want every little piece of LOST I can get but I don't want to buy two sets. By the time that one is released I believe by then you guys will be starting season 2 and that will not be enough time to catch up my friends on season 2 so they can watch season 3. Do you understand the dilemma here? If you can, can you get the message back to all the big wigs at ABC that us fans don't appreciate 2 different season 2 DVDs that cost a lot of money to buy and would rather just have the extended version with everything the earlier DVD had and more instead of gorging every dollar bill out of your loyal fans who are losing patience with the big wigs at ABC for not only the 2 sets of DVDs but the scheduling of reruns too. Are they trying to tick off a large and loyal fan base? I know you and the writers have nothing to do with the DVDs but it would be much appreciated if some how the ABC execs could see and hear this. Its too bad an excellent show like LOST is being trashed this way.

I'm sorry I usually don't complain but the only reason I do with this specific situation is is because I care about the show and feel like if ABC doesn't do something soon about how it manages this flawless show a good thing will be ruined by dumb executives. Keep up the good work with the show .

thanks :)

Two sets seems strange to me, too. I'm not sure what's going on. Is that for the UK or is it for North America? I thought it would be released in one giant package like the first season was released last year. I haven't heard of ABC marketing deciding to do this type of thing, but you never know. I guess we'll have to wait and see what it actually turns out to be.

I got this info from the site I sourced although then again you can never rely on anything on line but those sites are usually pretty accurate. I am from the United States so I don't know if it was from the UK all I know is when I read it... I had to See if it was true and if it was true I had to voice my discontent with it.

I didn't mean to come off as a whiner but I was a little up set about it and had to know if it was true. Thanks for taking the time to respond to all of us and me as always. I know the how the DVDs are marketed have nothing to do with you and sorry you had to hear the complaint but I don't know who else to reach and thought the word could get passed along if it was brought to light.

Once again I love the fact that you so politely responded to my question. I hope work for you during the chaos that is the end of the season is going well. I loved last weeks eppi and congratulate everyone who was involved. I love the show so much and am happy that you guys are even providing us with a DVD in the first place so i should cool it about even complaining at all.
