they love ethan because they are preternaturally perceptive and realize that ethan was never seen to initiate violence and even warned jack in order to avoid violence. they love ethan because he's low-key and chill. but mostly, they love ethan because he helps out with errands, like gathering papayas. he's like the anti-bad guy.
