(woops... I posted this in Javi's thread before I read "leaving the island")
My question:
Everything in season 1 pointed to a departure time of 14:15 - 14:55 SYD time (oceanic-air seating chart, ticket agent's computer screen, peoples' watches, Sun's "make a break" time, Jack and Ana Lucia in the bar).
If what the pilot told Jack and Kate were true - that they flew 6 hours toward L.A. and turned back for 2 hours - it should have been WELL after dark when they crashed.
An ad insert promoting season 2 in the December 16, 2005 issue of Entertainment Weekly shows a print of the seating chart from oceanic-air with the departure time of 08:04 and arrival of 18:16. http://www.lost-repetitions.com/adinsert.htm
Those times would of course support 8 hours in the air, still daylight, and the 4:16 time on the printout showing Desmond causing the system failure.
Which is right? How can we unravel a mystery if the foundation changes?
