Well firstly ,,,,,,,,,,,, does it still exist ??? :eek2: Any thoughts ?
I believe the others are former Dharma patients who have been send to the island by Dharma to be healed and experimented on and they dont wish to leave due to the fact that they are scared incase they are unhealed.
However this doesnt explain why they wish to capture the survivors of the crash ? Hmmm thoughts plz ...........

Which village are you refering to? Their huts or their suburban houses? Also, we don't know who they are, they could be completely unrelated to Dharma and are just using the leftover stations for achieving their own means.

People's natural tendency is to live near large bodies of water, whether it be oceans, lakes or rivers. I find it strange that the Others' would set up their territory in the center of the island where they could be susceptible to being surrounded by their enemies, and attacked with their enemies benefiting from the high ground positions. There is only one smoke monster, so if enemy troops approached the others' village from all four compass points, you'd think a majority would still make it to the center of the island. This is assuming that their village is not on top of some huge mesa or dormant volcano as some have hypothesized.

It seemed very small though, so theres a chance when walking by they wouldn't spot it. Besides, i want to know where their electricity is coming from and the water supply. Also i just thought, why was julliet making muffins, why not use dharma initive muffins? Will last twice as long. :p

I think setting Wisteria Lane in the center of the island would be to remain secret. I guess it would depend on your strategy. If somebody happens to get to the island with a boat, like Desmond, sailing around the island would mae finding a beach community much easier. But hiding your community inland would hide it more.

Didn't someone say that when Dharma abandonded the initiative in something like 1987 (I may be off on the date), none of the scientists returned. That makes me think that the Others are the Dharma scientists that stayed behind. What doesn't make sense to me is who pays for the continued support in the way of food, clothing, modern equipment (for example, the CD player) and every other comfort of home they seem to have. That's some big bucks being sunk into that village.

I don't have a definitive theory as to who the others are, but I do feel like they are omniscient. They seem to be very powerful and have access to information no prisoner, plane crash survivor or test subject could even dream of getting. Yes, they could have found out the information in Jack's file from any number of sources, but when Jack asks Juliet if Sarah is happy, she seems to genuinely know the answer. I think they are truly running the show, whether they be Dharma Initiative employees or not.
