And that's what resulted in her bloody wrists? Sorry if this has been discussed before, I'm having serious issues with the search feature on this site.

Perhaps she did. I have no better explanation for her bloody wrists. Something to think about...thanks.

The "scratch marks" are consistant with hand cuffs. I don't think she stabbed him at all.

Thank you!! I'm glad someone said this. Ben told her to put the cuffs on very tight, so she did. They were as tight as she could put them. I'm sure that between just naturally moving her hands/wrists from being uncomfortable and being pulled and let away in the tight cuffs, that's how her wrists got all red and raw looking. It can happen, it did to me. I mean, I wasn't being held prisoner by the others, but I've been cuffed tightly before and afterwards I hard marks on my wrists. This show is so strange and confusing, I think sometimes viewers look too deeply into certain things.

i totally agree. go with the simplist explanation, don't try and find something complicated or you're just confusing yourself even more

I'm not sure about the fork, but the way that they focused on the raw parts of her wrists I think that there may have been a struggle at some point.
I think that it is safe to say that there was more that occurred between breakfast and when she was led to Sawyer's area. I'm just not sure if that involved any sort of physical confrontation.

Yeah, remembr she had to walk through the jungle a bit to get to the beach. Walking that far back with the handcuffs on tight could easily cause the marks she had.

I think that there was definitely a time lapse between Kate's breakfast with Ben and when the others moved her to the cage. Not only were her wrists rubbed raw, but she was very hungry (i.e., she was quick to eat the fish biscuit). I think that in a later episode, we will see what happened from Kate's perspective.

When she took the biscuit, my first thought was, "Hey, you just ate!! Let him have the biscuit!" So then I realized that something more must have happened since we last saw her. We will probably get a flashback sometime later on.

I'm listening to the radio right now and the host is interviewing the attorney of a guy who was arrested for politely telling a politician he disagreed with his policy. The lawyer said the only physical damage his client suffered was scratched and cut wrists from the 3 hours he was handcuffed. This confirms my belief that nothing physical happened to Kate. She probably just refused to eat and was taken away after Ben left.

There are people theorizing that Kate was raped by Ben based solely on the damage to her wrists and her demeanor afterwards in the cage. Talk about a rush to judgment. Ben's little speech thoroughly cowered Kate which was its purpose. Ben can accomplish with his tongue what Sayid can only attempt with his pliers. I also think Kate deliberately tightened those handcuffs as much as she could just to show Ben how tough she was. Look at the expression on her face as she tightens them.

So no, Kate did not use the real live fork on Ben. But Ben also did not use his real live "fork" on Kate.

No, I'm sure Ben didn't use his "fork" on Kate. (Good line!) That's not what they are all about. It's psychological what they're doing right now. I was just wondering why the remark about the real live fork was put out there, sort of drew attention to the fork, as if he was trying to see if she would try something with it. Maybe he let her lift it and she thinks she's going to pick the locks with it something. I just think it will come up again later or he wouldn't have said it like that.

It's possible that the handcuffs themselves caused the cuts, but remember Tom did say to Kate "They hurt you pretty bad" (Or something along those lines. When I watched the show I thought he waas referring to some of the others, but 'they' could also refer to the handcuffs.

seemed to focus on the cuts/scratches, and after benry told her about the rough two weeks, appears as if they will be more significant than just cuff marks to me.
