As they show more of the others, im noticing theres 2 types of others. As we saw in beginning all the people living in the houses seemed very normal yet alot like they could be scientists or doctors, they just seemed very nerdy to me except maybe goodwin. And then at the place where sawyer n kate are being held we see more people but they look more rugged and like they always looking around as if they were troops in a war watching out for the prisoner and their higher ups(tom,ben), as well as always carrying guns. We really didnt see anyone who looked tough and rugged like these guys bac at the houses, so maybe theres also another camp of military others? and i just couldnt see scientists as being tough guys with guns and combat skills.

yea but anyone can fight and anyone can do plumbing,doesnt mean your tough, just that you are defending yourself .. but im talking about all the guys with guns and these serous looks on their face, the ones who never really say anythin they just walk around with guns watching over things,as well as travel in groups. Ethan was alone, but these guys are always together in a group of 2 or more.and everythin from shotguns to handguns.Lets not forget we had alot of things that had to do with armies and wars.

Damon and Carlton confirmed that there are multiple factions of the Others on the 10/01 podcast. Although, they did not indicate whether or not it was within the one camp or if there were multiple camps.

exactly. technically they would need protection on the island of sorts. why not military or ex-military. kelvin was in the army and he was on the island, not an other but he was there.

any look at any organization would show a diverse group of people. the 'others' are living on this island as some sort of society that we do not fully understand yet. just because some of its members appear more trained at military like aspects, if that's how you want to word it, does not have to mean that there are different groups at work. the non-military members are what make life tolerable for the rest maybe?
as for the podcast quote.... those two were being such smart alecks, who knows what to believe. they seemed to answer that with some sarcasm, or so i took it.
