Javi! I'm so excited that the geniuses stop in and answer questions occasionally, and I have a great one. What's with all the con games? Fourteen people, trapped on an island, and so far four (Sawyer, Kate, Shannon, Charlie) of them get their $$ by being con artists??? Is that on purpose or did you all decide that if it works well the first time, it would be four times as good the fourth time? Of course, the nuances are different, and I realize that of the four eps I'm referring to (Confidence Man, Whatever the Case May Be, Hearts and Minds, and Homecoming, respectively) you wrote just the one - the best one, by the way, but as Producer, certainly you must know why all the baddies coming together in one place seemed like such a great idea. Perhaps they're going to come together and create a supergroup of con artists, and they'll con the rest of the Lostaways out of their shares of boar? That would make for an entertaining episode.

i don't think of all of them as "cons." we like stories that twist in surprising directions, and those o henry variations may read as such -- but it's not really our intention to do a show about con artists.

kate is a criminal, and lying is a part of that life, sawyer is a bona fide con artist, shannon is just a shameless manipulator... if those be cons, so be it, but mostly it's just about the ways people lie to one another to get what they want...
