As I was pondering this episode, it occured to me that perhaps the Others are planning on trying to get Sawyer to impregnate Kate. Previously the Others have taken Walt, the children from the tale section of the plane, and stolen Danielle's baby (Alex). They also abducted Claire and it seems clear they were trying to get her baby, too.

So they gave Kate a shower, put her in a pretty dress, roughed her up a bit (for sympathy factor) and then put her in a cage across from Sawyer. Then they put them to work within close proximity, but don't allow them to talk or touch. And they have Kate wearing a short dress the whole time. Perhaps they have injected her with fertility drugs? Are there aphrodisiacs in the fish biscuits? When the timing is right (tracking her ovulation perhaps) will Sawyer and Kate suddenly find themselves "alone" together?

I think it's a long shot. But i would absolutely love to see it happen!

Women in such harsh circumstances often don't ovulate at all. If that was their plan, they'd be feeding her right and trying to keep her calm.

I don't think that's their plan. And I'm glad. Cause it's icky.
