Is it just me or weren't the brief flashes of the Others running back with Colleen on a stretcher speeded up? Was that to indicate that the Others can run at "superhuman" speeds when they want? The Other "Ethan" that the Losties originally killed seemed to have superhuman strength. Are we to conclude they have been genetically enhanced?

I didn't notice them running any faster.. maybe the angle of the camera and the brush made it appear so..

Hmmm...didn't catch that they were running super fast w/ the stretcher. But about Ethan's super-strength, I think some time back that there was speculation that The Others may have been genetically altered somehow. Can't remember where or when I read that.

But then again, since J/K/S have been caught, I haven't seen any indications of superhuman strength by The Others. Maybe that was just an Ethan thing.

I did notice their speed as I was watching the episode.. It seemed like they were running at a really fast pace and seemed to slow down a little when they brought the stretcher past kate and sawyer's cages. Honestly i think it's probably got something to do with editing or camera angle but it's a really neat idea to think about.

It was kind of bouncy, but probably to look more dramatic. I didnt notice it being superfast either.

I thought it was fast, but I thought it was just a camera or editing technique. I don't think it was meant for us to think the Others are superfast or anything. I just think it was meant to be a cool visual effect.

it was probably to show that they indeed was the same others that was running through the jungle when jin and michael was hiding in the bushes

With the grasses and foliage there are lots of reference points flashing by, giving the illusion of great speed. Drive 80 across a stretch of Kansas, do the same speed through downtown K.C., reference points have a large impact on perceived motion and velocity.

I THINK IT'S FUNNY YOU SAY THEY RUN SUPER FAST. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT THEY ARE SLOW! COLEEN WAS SHOT THE NIGHT BEFORE WHY DID IT TAKE THEM UNTIL DAYTIME TO GET HER TO THE DOCTOR? ESP IF THEY HAVE A SUBMARINE! MAYBE THEY WERE RUNNING IN PLACE OR IN CIRCLES.:rolleyes:

This makes me think of the first episode this season when Ben tells Ethan and Goodwin to run and if they hurry they can make it in an hour.

I don't know about you guys but running that far in an hour is pretty special and makes me wonder if they are infact genetically modified in some way.

Well, they can probably run faster than the Losties for sure, since the Others would be much more familiar with the terrain and land. So, they can move faster and more surely than anyone else. So, rather than a controlled jog, they can run near full speed since they won't get tripped up.

And for why it took until day, they did steal the boat, and then sail it and dock it before running to the facility I imagine.
