I believe that there really are two islands and Ben's stunt was not a con on Sawyer. I refer to the second island as Pala Island because of the Pala Ferry, but you can call it what you want, there is no evidence what Pala refers to.
We know that Alex, the teenage girl that I am led to believe is Rousseau's daughter, but has been unconfirmed, is on Pala Island because she talked to Kate from the woods.
We also know that her friend was held in Kate's cage. We also know from... Maternity Leave and Live Together, Die Alone that Alex was on the Big Island with Ben's crew.
How did Alex get from the Big Island to Pala Island and for what purpose?
Damon confirmed in the 10/9/06 podcast that Karl's a legitimate escapee. This means that escape from Ben is the likliest motive.
1. They could have swam or taken some other vehicle such as a raft, pieces of the plane, or remnants of Michael's raft.
2. They could have escaped on the big island and were then brought to Pala by Ben's crew in the exact same process as J/K/S or even with J/K/S.
3. They could be traveling between both islands using floatation, swimming, tunnels, etc.
Any theories on this one based on the existance of a second island? Damon's confirmation plays down the ""Karl's in on it" scenarios.
