I have not seen this being discussed anywhere.

In seasone 1 Sayid and Hurley use the radioreciever and hear the french chick with her looped doomed message and later they manage to recieve a radio-channel (by bouncing frequencies in the stratosphere, Sayid explains).
However now, in season 3 we see the others using walkie talkies to communicate among themselves on the second island... and something about calling the other island...

a loop hole?

Not really, in my opinion. Walkie-talkies operate on frequencies and channels. It's quite possible that they could pick up something, but their range isn't usually so strong that, given the distance between any two points on each island (point A on the first island to point B on the second island), they would pick up anything. Usually the range is a certain number of miles, and it's not so large that it would cover that large an amount of distance.

i dont understand anything you said, nor the reply you got.
but going off your title alone, there is a loop hole int walkie talkies, if you only have one walkie talkie it creates a loophole as your not really talking to anyone, or cummincating with anyone, creating the loop hole that even if you have a walkie talkie, you may only be going a walkie

No....they meant that there is a loophole in the storyline itself. Not in the walkie talkie.

And you can have only one walkie talkie, and still pick up random signals bouncing around. Kind of like a radio reciever. It was how sayid and hurley were able to listen to that song sitting on the beach.

But there are many different channels (kind of like stations on a radio?) That send out signals. Some walkie talkies are only meant to recieve certain frequencies. So the others could have their own frequency they are tapping into.

OMG! your totally right,i thought they were talking about an indivual walkie talkie, i guess i got sarcasm totally wrong, i better look up irony for this one too, i am glad you as so unsure when putting me right about "walkie talkies kinda being like radio recievers."........or different "frequencies" being stations?!?......i love lost
