now as someone who has trained in boxing even if i am getting my *** handed to me i still have the instinct to cover my face to block a punch.

and i am not talking cowering or anything just protecting my face.

At the point of this latest beating, didn't he still think he had some sort of "pacemaker" inside of him? One that would ruin him if he let his heartrate get up past a certain bpm? And wouldn't launching himself into a no-holds-barred slugfest qualify as a heart-racing activity? I think he "took" the beating because of that. He'll get 'im back, just give it time.

I don't remember the exact words Ben used, but didn't he tell Sawyer if he was aggressive towards them Kate would get the pacemaker treatment?

They showed him boxing to let us know that sawyer could fight. He let his a$$ get kicked to save freckles and himself, pacemaker threat. I forsee sawyer kickin some butt soon.

Except when you can't... as mentioned previously, he was struck with a metal baton and if he had a concussion, he may have not been able to defend himself. It happens to boxers all the time, and one of the primary reasons referees stop fights.

And he kept putting his hand over his heart, saying, "Hey, hey, take it easy." He was terrified...as he has been before...of anything remotely medical. Beatings he can take, but medical stuff sort of freaks him out. I think he was just so scared, he wasn't thinking straight and besides, it was the second time that day he had the crap beat out of him. He had just had a gigantic needle shoved in his chest and he thought if his heart went above 140 he was going to die.

sides honestly, anyone is capable of beating anyone else. despite all the things movies try to make us think where someone can take 20 punches and not blink an eye, in real life, which lost tries to mimic, its not true. any gronw person punching any other grown person has the same effect if the hit connects. better fighters are determined by skill to block, duck, and counter, or avoid. or getting the first punch in and never letting your opponent get the upper hand.

I think its overly clear that Sawyer is a better fighter than Pickett, two punches made pickett go down hard in episode 2, in this one Pickett punched Sawyer 8 times and Sawyer still was consious. Thats saying soemthing.

Other things you dont get is....when a punch actually connects, they HURT. I dont know how many people in this thread have ever taken full force punches to the head (i have plenty of times) and the truth is the average grown man of sawyers weight can be knocked unconsious from a consecutive 3-4 powerful blows to the head. powerful meaning, no blocking, no ducking, no messup, but clear full force. in real fights that doesnt happen thatoften because its hard to get in a clear shot, in this situation when sawyer did nothing, pickett got 8 punches in clean. i dont think sawyer got his butt kicked in terms of whose tuffer as much as he let it happen for fear of either dying from his own heart exploding or them doing the same to kate.
I know if I was in the same situation and someone threatened to hurt the woman I love I would gladly take anything they threw at me as long as she was safe. I assume he was doing the same.
He is in no way a wimp for doing so, in fact if anything it makes him much stronger.

Either that or he is waiting for the right moment to strike. Just another con from Sawyer if you ask me. Like a tiger waiting in the shadows......well, maybe not like that, but you get it. Remember, "A tiger don't change its stripes." Heh, I get to use my tiger reference.
