As last night marked the end of "Act 1" of Season 3, and as it seems like everyone everywhere hated the ep, I felt the need to send a quick note. You guys in the writer's room are not wrong. There is no reason to bow to any short-sighted pressure from any source. You have made clear, strong choices, for the most part backed by muscular, inventive writing, and have created one of the most rewarding shows on television. Just because a fair number of fans can't see the larger picture is no reason to alter it for them. I certainly don't pretend to know more than any other casual viewer, but I know when I as a viewer am in sure hands, and this season has certainly provided that. I can't say for sure, but I would imagine when you get to the rescue team arriving on the island, or when you explore the islands original inhabitants, or when the sickness finally rears its ugly head, all those who doubted you will jump back on board. But I for one have rarely been as satisfied as I was last night. The episode wasn't the strongest in the history of your show by any means, but it was the appropriate last beat to a stunning act. An act that gave us a further splintering of our survivors, an act that called into question the central narrative device of the show, and an act that began to let us know that this year's interest is as much on "religion" and "heaven" as last year's was "faith" and "hell." I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be eagerly anticipating each new episode. You're doing marvelous work. I sincerely hope each and every one of you knows that.
