Ok, the more I think about it, the more I see a bunch of Christmas humor in the episode. There are already several discussions about all the Ho Ho Ho's in the episode, but I just realized there is also the whole Scrooge thing going on.

Hurley was visited by 3 individuals, as was Scrooge. I would think that Charlie, being dead, was the ghost of Christmas past. The big question is, between Jack and Abbadon, who is the ghost of the present and who is the ghost of the future??? Just upon first consideration, I guess Jack is the Present and Abbadon is the Future, since he represents the unknown...

And as we all know, the ghosts were sent to Scrooge to make him change his ways and his outlook on life. Is that what Hugo needs as well?? So is The Island sending ghosts to haunt Hugo to make him appreciate what he has??

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

So where does Charlie Brown fit in?!
Could it be that mangled tree that Charlie had turns out to be the
tree in the center of otherville?! Saved by the powers of the island?!

Charlie brown doesn't fit, it's the title of a movie charlie brown starred in.

BTW, you are right about being visited by 3 "ghosts".

Interesting...

You also have the episode from last season entitled "A Tale of Two Cities" which was also a Dickens story... not sure it is enough of a link for me... but, there you go.

Technically Scrooge was visited by four ghosts because Old Jacob Marley visited him too. Good thought though.

Be careful where you go with the Ho Ho Ho!

Christmas does have alot of meaning here. But... some cultures throughout history have used the christmas symbolism to mean the complete opposite of what you and I may see them as.

And I think that may be part of what Hurey's picture he made in the hospital may mean. Many culters who are luciferian in thier belifes use the snow, igaloos, snowmen, christmas trees, the north pole, SANTA Claus to repersent thier version of (SATAN) or SATAN CLAWS . If you research history enough you find records that indicate it is us who have taken SATAN CLAWS and made it SANTA CLAUS.

I think one very important story line is the reversals of words and meanings of things, the god and the bad merging into one, repeated phrases, words and cliches, repearing symbolism and the repeat of events, and the give and take senerio . All luciferian in nature.

Santa Claus:
Santa famous trademark is Ho! Ho! Ho!
Remember the Miracle plays.

In these Miracle plays, the devil's common entry line, known as the "devil's bluster," was "Ho! Ho! Hoh!" (Siefker, Phyllis. Santa Claus, Last of the Wild Men: The Origins and Evolution of Saint Nicholas. Jefferson: McFarland & Company, Inc., 1997, p. 69).

Yeah - you gotta keep an eye on those "call me dad" personality cults.

Nice thoughts on the ghosts of Christmas dude  brings us nicely to "Marley (Jacob) was dead to begin with" ... wherever that gets us - lol -and lives that CAN be made good.

Maybe the Lost writers are on a Charles Dickons addiction of something? Because the more you think about it the more you see the connections.

Maybe Aaron is destined to grow into a street urchin??;) He already convinced someone to give up a ring, without even having to steal it-he's a natural!!

Hey Liplocked-I'm not a Dude!, dude!!

'Dude' is the default term of address for all posts concerning the Hurling one.

I'm looking forward to the Snoopy/Red Baron avvatars if our losties ever get to pilot a plane. Is John old enough to have been at Woodstock do you think?

Do you mean Jacob/Christian in the shack is Marley? Hmm, but Marley was Scrooge's partner. I think I'd go with the two sightings of Charlie in the FF: first at the police station (the doorknocker turning into Marley's face), then the visit at the asylum (Marley's visit to Scrooge's room). But then who is the third ghost... Hmm... Maybe I'm trying too hard... LOL

Dunno - but I propose, de Groot - 'the large' - as a suitable name for Santa Rosa's finest: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Grotius and that 'Woah' is the exclaimation most likely to be heard in Season 4. Dead dads, dried Walts and eyeballs....?! :eek2:

Let the weirdness commence. - preferably with someone being chained up; ropes are all very well and good, but chains forged in hell (or nicked from the Black Rock) would give chinadoll so much more to theorise with.

~ I've just been on the Peanuts site... there's SO much stuff that's potentially LOST crossover material there. Jack is Snoopy! (you have to read the toons to see it) ~
