View Full Version : The Pilot's Wife
Elinnz 02-08-2008, 11:56 AM Sorry if this has been discussed, but wouldn't the pilot's wife, married since they were 19, possibly recognize that it wasn't her husband being shown on tv? He wasn't exactly a skeleton at that point. So is she in on something, too, or being kept quiet? If a colleague would recognize him, certainly his childhood sweetheart would too.
Tugwilly 02-09-2008, 07:16 AM I don't think he actually recognized him. Just the fact it couldn't be him because he wasn't wearing a wedding ring.

The picture was a real picture of the piolet, the one that was killed by the monster in season 1. He just had a mustache......
It was the fact that he wan't wearing a wedding ring that made the freighter pilet call in
thedreman2005 02-10-2008, 01:18 AM Boy, the news station really had a lot of respect for the pilot's family, huh, showing the bloated skeleton. :)

I walked away thinking they would have never had showed those images on the news. The families haven't been notified so to put pictures on the news would seem quite irresponsible.
Elinnz 02-10-2008, 06:21 PM thanks, everyone, for your thoughts.
i agree, it's weird that they showed dead bodies on the news. i understand that the photo they showed to the left of the dead body was the real pilot, but obviously the dead body was not the pilot who died on the island. i think it all makes a little more sense. the pilot has always stood out in my mind has being more important than we've believed so far...

Exactly..
More reason to support the claim that the plane, was in fact, a decoy.
Heroic Poser 02-10-2008, 09:49 PM Did we ever know for sure his wife is still alive?
I know a guy who's wife died but he still wears the ring.

That is true so people do, do that. She could alive and they just havent covered her story yet, or maybe she is dead.
I'd imagine the news that your husband was "Confirmed Dead" would be troubling enough that you might not notice a detail like that. Frank was in the unique position of knowing enough about the pilot to notice something small like the ring, but not being overwhelmed with grief which would block his observational skills.

What if the only persons who got those TV transmissions & newspapers are the ones we saw? Like the phony newspaper telling of Mr. Zuckerman's death, and the phony video of the lottery drawing and of the news about Hugo?

Seeing as this show opens up into our world (the viewers)...
example.. the various websites, telephone numbers, ARG games
etc.
We get to feel like we are on the case to figure out whats going on
in this show.
Based on that and the fact that Dr. Sudds says you cant believe
everything you see or read, then it's seems reasonable to apply
the same to his post.
Which in turn would go for my post as well.
In fact is the computer you are viewing really the official fuselage page?
When does it end?
Your theory is imaginative, well thought out, intriguing, captivating and all sorts
of words that make it interesting, but will it hold up come season 6 finale?!

Give it up already Ben.
Electromagnetic Anomoly 02-11-2008, 04:57 PM Give it up already Ben.
or is it Michael Emerson?!
Starr Fish 02-12-2008, 02:48 PM Don't we already know what happens to the Pilot's wife? Didn't she leave him because Pilot Parkman started spending too much time with Dr. Suresh and raiding the paper company in Texas in search of the cheerleader? Does she know if flies planes now?
My bad, wrong show.:p
lostjunkie 02-12-2008, 04:27 PM Did we ever know for sure his wife is still alive?

He was married to Frank. That's how Frank knew he always wore the ring.

I smell a Boone tie-in during Frank's next flashback...
bravado15 02-12-2008, 09:23 PM Let me bring this back from the land of goofyness:
I think the simpliest explanation is that it was an exciting way to introduce Frank and instantly gives him weight. And the pilot's wife, family, or anyone else he knows is irrelevant.
Granted the show is very smart and it's a reasonable question to ask and may develop, but the show is full of logic holes and I'd be willing to bet it's not an issue and we should be thinking why Frank was supposed to be the pilot.

I'm sure your answer to this question is going to be,
"Of course! Now you get it", however I will ask it.
"If the lottery drawing was phony, then where did the money come from"?!
"A phony government"?!
imnotlost 02-13-2008, 02:21 PM i'm sure they paid her-/or scared her to keep silent...
Founder 02-13-2008, 02:27 PM remember when Mikeal at the Flame had the file on someone that had a verrry similar life to the one that he supposedly led.
