When Jack asked Faraday he brought the gun, I was glad he seemed suspicious of them but after everything they had been through wouldn't a gun seem like a reasonable precaution when parachuting onto an uncharted island? And I'm fully expecting the freighties to be bad news.

Yeah, it's totally reasonable in the sense that they had no idea if there are wild animals on the island and whatnot. Of course by now the Losties are pretty paranoid of anyone that wasn't on 815 (and some of the people that were on it) so their reaction wasn't too surprising either, especially since he was appearing to hide the gun in his pants, rather than having it plainly visible in a holster.

Analogkid, I think that the important thing is he hid the gun rather than he had one.
