While watching The Economist one thing popped into my head. The guy that plays Ben (still new to the actors since I just started watching 3 weeks ago and watched all the episodes in that time) was in an episode of Law and Order: Criminal Intent that I just happened to catch. Anyway, in this episode he played a guy that pretended to be an Economist so I got to thinking wouldn't it be at least semi-entertaining if Ben was in fact the mysterious boss that isn't really an economist.

I know I know, Ben is giving Sayid orders...but where is he getting his names? Maybe he's a double agent of sorts. Or maybe I'm just a big enough Law and Order fan that I wanna see the coincidence because it would make me laugh.

WOW! You have been immersed in Lost for 3 weeks. How's the head? Has it exploded yet?

About the theory, nothing is impossible on Lost. Saying that I doubt Ben would ask Sayid to kill him. There is nothing to gain. Ben is a master manipulator and gains whatever he can in however he can. There is nothing for Ben to gain by dying at Sayid's hand.

I hope you enjoyed your "Lost" experience.

I have a big cranium so my heads good so far lol.

I didn't mean Ben was gonna have Sayid target him, I meant Ben is the "other secret boss" and is having Sayid kill off those "employees" for some reason. I would attempt to figure out why but every time I try to do that with Ben I'm horribly horribly wrong.

I actually had thought this myself when I watched this epi - that Ben could be the 'boss' of both the guy killed on the golf course (can't remember name, sorry!) and Elsa as well. He is having Sayid kill off all of his other 'helpers'. Interesting theory, at least.

I have been an avid fan of LOST from the beginning, but I have just introduced it to my mother who was out of the country for the past few years. We, too, have watched all the 3 previous seasons this past 2 weeks. It was fun going back and seeing everything again and catching things I had missed or that I now know in retrospect. MY brain feels like its about to explode! Welcome to the wonderful world of LOST!

I definitely considered the possibility that Sayid and Elsa were both working for Ben without realizing it. He loves to play mind games; maybe he just wanted to see who would end up killing whom. I really do think that he's THAT sick and twisted. :eek2:

I saw that L&O episode last week. My first thought was, "So Ben did get off the Island." Then MamaThor gave me one of those "are you insane" looks and then I realized it was not "Lost."

Welcome to the 'lage. There are no crazy theories. Only crazy people who obsess over them. I like your theory. It could be right. So go ahead and laugh.

Me too. While watching the episode I was convinced Ben was Elsa's boss, it's the sort of crazy messed up thing he would pull. Maybe he felt Elsa was now dispensable. Or it was a test for both Sayid and Elsa to see who would carry out orders to the letter.

ITA Angela, he really IS that sick and twisted.

In no particular order:
1. Cool theory!!! =)
2. The actor is Michael Emerson! He freaking *rocks*!
3. Duuude... *That* is truly *EPIC!* 3 seasons in 3 weeks!?

(Haha... I'll admit... When I first got into Lost, I watched the first 2 seasons in ten days... crazy... i know.)

*Update*: You know, the more I think about this... It actually makes a lot of sense... who knows if it's true, but I could see it unfolding in this direction.

I just rewatched the last scene... and Sayid and Ben are talking and S says, "She wanted to know who I work for... she wanted to know about you." And B responds, "*Of course* she did." and he just says it in that Ben sort of way, that let's you know that somehow he knows way more than you think he knows or that any ordinary person would be able to know.

Hmmm... There's something to this. (maybe!) Also the possible Cobra parallel is interesting! =)

Ben as double agent? *Definitely* plausible!

I think what lonegunwoman is trying to tell you is that Sayid was supposed to kill Elsa's boss. Elsa wasn't the intended target - Sayid was using her to get to her boss because he (the boss) was the next on the list to be killed. That's why he tells her she needs to leave, that people will be asking questions about her boss (because he's going to be dead soon) and he doesn't want her involved.

BTW, welcome to the Fuse! And don't be surprised if you watch all those epis a few more times. When this season ends it'll be a long stretch until the next one and what better way to get your LOST fix.
