Hello Javi,
I spoke to you at the Paley Festival. I was the big guy who asked you which episodes you wrote/ are writing. Thanks for being so warm and gracious towards me and the others who were speaking to you. I have a question. How do I begin to become a writer? I've got no idea. I'm 33 and really have no career to speak of at the moment. Do you think I need a backup qualification? (eg teacher) I think I have some pretty good ideas and they eat away at me every day. I feel I need to express them or I'll go mad. I'm not sure that going to university at my age is the right thing to do. Any suggestions about how to get started?

first off, thank you for being at the paley fest and being such a great supporter of the show.

as far as becoming a writer... well, that is a huge long answer - but first of all, you need to start putting your ideas down on paper and seeing how they play. i would also suggest that you take some courses to see if it is something for you. UCLA extension offers tremendous classes with industry professionals which ought to allow you to get your feet wet and see if writing is the best way to express what you want to express.

but most of all, you have to write. don't let your ideas drive you mad, put them on paper, then figure out what the best form is to express them - tv, novel, short story, poetry... ther best thing about writing is it all starts with that idea and the cheapest raw materials known to man - a pen and paper.

good luck!
