View Full Version : Who do the freightastic four have to fear more?
woland 03-01-2008, 03:06 PM After this episode I find myself wondering who is bigger threat to the freightastic four, the losties or their own people on the freighter. The freighter crew seemed to barely tolerate Lapidus and said, "Faraday can't take care of himself half the time." Not to mention the fact that they tied up and turned on Minkowski when he began to experience the time displacement. It seems like the freighter crew are willing to sacrifice any of their members to accomplish their mission. And yes, Locke killed Naomi but from the flashback in Confirmed Dead she was the biggest threat to the losties. Yes, the losties have held the team members hostage, but I think the losties would only kill any of them if they posed a direct threat to the community. Just something to consider.
TheLostMember 03-01-2008, 03:39 PM I thnk the four crew members are more scared of their bosses because they might have been either blackmailed or forced to join the crew. They would also have to follow orders because what happens if they don't and the boat leaves them there?
kansasgal71 03-01-2008, 03:43 PM If I was one of the freightastic four, I think I would be more scared of whomever is on the freighter that is sabotaging their communications room and setting their "prisoners" free. Especially since their bosses are so scary.

It's all a matter of perspective, the "spy" who sabotaged the communications equipment and set the prisoners free might be considered a threat to the freighter crew but to the losties he could be an ally. I've said this before but the freighties, with the possible exception of Lapidus seem somewhat naive, they didn't fully understand what the dangers of the island were and they don't realize that their bosses will kill any of them to accomplish their goals. Lapidus, especially after this episode seems to know what type of people he's working for. I have a feeling that even though the losties have held them at gunpoint and taken them hostage and shoved grenades in their mouths that is humane considering the way their own people would treat them under the right circumstances, hell look at what they did to Minkowski.

You are right, he freighties dont understand the dangers of the island or they would not have taken a joy ride on the helicopter just to "get a look at the island"

I thought Minkowski said he and someone named Brandon took out a smaller ship to get a look at the island. The freightastic four knew about the dangers, Charlotte wore a vest, and perhaps Faraday did too, but there is knowing there will be dangers and actually being in the middle of danger. Plus there was an indication from Naomi's flashback that the four didn't get much training beforehand.

You are probably right, All I was saying is that if they knew about the whole timeloop, conscious changing, crazy thing, they probably would not have went to the island to take a look. If they knew, then I am sure they would have taken precautions for Minkowski to not conscious jump, or whatever you want to call it, and then die??? Or at least prevent him from dying.

Maybe all of that which you just mentioned was the attraction for the freightastic four. Faraday would want to go to a place where he could study the electromagnetism he theorized about. Charlotte would want to go to study the DI. The island is very extraordinary, I can see why people would go thousands of miles to study it, heedless of the consequences and ignorant of the dangers. The freighties think because they're so well funded and well organized that they're safe but with Naomi that hasn't been the case.
