Just watched Hearts and Minds again, great episode. But Locke using Jungle Juice on Boone's head reminded me of some books I read in College back in the 70's, damn I'm getting old, they were part of a Chicano Studies curriculum.. The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda. Have you read his books and are you a "fan"?
It just seemed the use of a hallucinogenic to open your mind up to a "Separate Reality" was pretty cool.
i have actually never read castaneda (but i ought to, since i hear that his stuff was also influential in the development of lucas's ideas for the force in star wars) - but the idea sprang from the same well, we always referred to that story internally as "boone's vision quest," and the kernel of the story developed out of that ritual of becoming a man by facing a trial by fire (with drugs quickly entering the picture as a mediator).
thanks for the question!

Thanks for taking time to answer. I highly recommend Castaneda. If I remember correctly, and I do since I still have the box set, There is
The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui way of Knowledge
A Separate Reality: Further Conversations with Don Juan
Journey to Itxlan: The Lessons of Don Juan
Tales of Power
Below is a link to Castaneda website, it seemed interesting but I haven't had time to explore it.

I give you all this like you have a ton of time on your hands :lol2: At your leisure take a look, I know you will find it interesting.
Don't slack up. You've set the bar pretty high with the episodes that I've seen but I know you are up to the challenge. Thanks for the ride.
